Great for throwing pottery
Nice even thickness and thin enough to still feel the clay moving.

I was curious how this sponge would work. very subtle pattern, so its mostly useful for pickup and smudging. I like the texture and it sucks up water quickly, so it was worth the (minimal) price.

This type of sponge is too stiff for wheel thrown pottery use.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

These elephqant ear sponges are too firm and stiff. In the past,I was able to obtain sponges that were softer, more flexible, and easier to use.

Agree w/ PSquared.Useless, poor quality
from Los Angeles, CA
I bought these for pottery work. Unlike the quality sponges I have bought elsewhere, these were a flat stiff piece of sponge cut on three sides. It softened somewhat when wet, but still stiffer than I need for wheel work. They retain some moisture but no liquid. I usually find Blick products to be high quality and a little overpriced. These were terrible quality and priced about average. Given my needs, they were a total waste of money.

I enjoy mixing media and its applications. Although I am not a potter, I have found that Elephant Ear Sponges are ideal for use with my Derwent Sepia ink pencil and aquatone pencils in my sketch works. Just a bit of water, squeeze out the excess and apply sponge to drawing with a light touch. Works for me!

Poor quality not worth the money
from Atlanta GA
I was looking for elephant ear sponges for pottery work, online they looked like decent quality, when I received them, they were worse then substandard, basically useless and a waste of money. Really bad quality. I should have taken the time to just go to the store to check them out but it's way out of my area. This is the first time I have been dissatisifyed with a product from Blicks. I'll still shop there but from now on will take the ride up to the store and not buy online.
