Eco-House Inc. is a Canada-based company dedicated to making fine oil painting mediums that meet optimum health, safety, and environmental standards.
In the view of Eco-House, the standards for art materials should be similar to those in the food industry — new or artificial ingredients should be considered unsafe until their long-term safety and archival quality are proven. Thus Eco-House uses only traditional, all-natural ingredients that have stood the test of time, while eliminating overly aggressive solvents and toxic heavy metals from traditional formulations.
Because Eco-House believes that every artist deserves to know exactly what is contained in the art materials they use, it provides a full declaration of all ingredients on every product label.
Caution — Follow safety instructions carefully. Not suitable for use by children. Shipping restrictions apply to hazardous materials.
115 Extra-Mild Citrus Cleaner
This medium-strength, general-purpose thinner and solvent dries more slowly than turpentine, keeping paint workable for a longer period of time. It is not suitable for dissolving hard resins such as dammar or copal.
125 Neutral Thin
This is a general-purpose thinner, degreaser, brush cleaner, and volatile painting medium for oil-based paints. It is clear, odorless, hypoallergenic, and archival.
910 Light Refined Linseed Oil
This very light, purified linseed oil is made without additives. It results in brighter whites and pales when mixed with oil paint.
912 Linseed Stand Oil
This light-colored, pre-polymerized linseed oil adds elasticity and moisture to paints, improving their flow and leveling. It has less of a tendency to yellow than plain linseed oil.
915 Orange Terpene
This archival-quality solvent is made from food-quality ingredients for optimum health and safety. Strong enough to dissolve damar resin solids and hardened paint, it can be used as a substitute for turpentine.
921 Cozica Drier Blend
This aromatic-free blend of cobalt, barium, and zinc octoates speeds up the drying time of linseed oil and stand oil coats.
950 Damar Resin
This high-quality, graded natural resin adds brilliance and luminosity to colors. Clear white crystals are used to make various traditional painting preparations such as varnish and medium. Strain out impurities using Orange Terpene.
952 Damar Varnish
Damar Varnish can be used as a final picture varnish over well-dried oil paintings (after 6-12 months) or as an ingredient for your own medium formulations. It has a semi-gloss finish.
955 Heavy Damar Medium
This medium has a rather heavy consistency resulting in a rich glaze finish. The addition of lead-free driers (cobalt, zirconium, and calcium octoates) reduces the drying time of paints.

No smell after glazing and painting with it.
I prefer oil paints to acrylics, but cannot stand the fumes from turpentine or its substitutes. Therefore, I have occasionally tried different alternatives to turpenoid. Turpenoid natural was my first attempt, but it smells ghastly and does not mix well in mediums. As a cleaner, I found it stripped my brushes. I learned the early Masters did not use turpentine. So most of the time I have used canola oil to wash my brushes every few minutes, and my favorite addition to create a thinner oil paint has been Gamblin's Neo-Megilp or M. Graham Walnut alkyd. Both are effective. But now I have a new favorite. This Eco-House medium increases the viscosity of the thicker oil paints like Old Holland or Williamsburg paints and truly has no smell, even later when I returned to my enclosed room. I was floored. Paints dry within minutes, so if I decide not to blend, I need only wait about 5 minutes. Talk about perfect. That is what I wanted in acrylics, but didn't like how flat they look. The only downside is that the paints lose their sheen afterwards, so now I need to varnish, I guess. I think you can use it for glazing as well as thicker strokes, but it is not a gel impasto medium. I am definitely buying more of this later.
Just plain Awesome!!!

I use this Eco House mineral spirits to blend colored pencils. I am allergic to everything and this does not give me problems. It is pretty much odorless. Some odorless mineral spirits I have purchase, are not odorless. Although my ventilation is not the best, this doesn't bother me, where others have. I would recommend venting your area out as much as you are able. I am very very happy with Eco Houses odorless mineral Spirits...I don't feel like I'm working with a toxic product.
Works as intended for oil paints

This product is for oil paints, not inks. As the manufactuerer says, very low odor, barely discernible orange scent. Has purple color (probably due to cobalt) that does not hurt color at recommended dilution. I do mean dilution: It's best to add a little to some medium, then add medium to your paint. Medium will darken a bit, but stays usable in small bottle for several days at least. May depend on your paint formulation, but I tried this with safflower, linseed, and walnut-based paints; all worked OK. Thick paint will first dry a bit like chewing gum (without stickiness) before hardening. Bottle has a dropper insert for measuring. Minus one star for not clearly explaining dilution on bottle label.

Solvents that people with MCS can use!

Terrific products... now people with chemical sensitivities can paint with oils again! I become very ill from turpentine, varnish, Gamsol, or turpenoids. Even oil paint itself is sometimes difficult, and I often paint with an air purifier on. Yes, I know, crazy dangerous love. First I tried a very expensive solvent from another company that was ok but had some drawbacks. Eco House's customer service was very helpful with product recommendations. So far I've tried the NeutralThin, the mildest of their solvents, which is odorless and reaction-free for me, and the Xtra Mild Citrus thinner, which has a pleasant orange scent. Neutral Thin has been my choice. It performs very well as a turpenoid substitute and as a brush cleaner.
