Comments about Dylon Fabric Dyes:
We used this in my art class to do a modified batik technique. The dye was very easy to mix and work with. The students liked the colors, but were disappointed with how they faded when dry. We did several layers to build the color on their images.I would use less water the next time to try to make the colors stronger.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

What's cool about Dylon dyes
I use Dylon dye for shibori and splotchy surface design on linen, cotton, and silk. "Velvet black" makes a beautiful midnight blue on linen. With the addition of vinegar and heat, the results are rich and deep on silk. My results with cotton fabric are mixed. For ease of use and price, I recommend Dylon. For saturated colors on cotton, I prefer Procion-MX.

I used these dyes to make big tie dyed tapestries for a school fundraiser. The dyes are excellent on 100% cotton, but predictably less vibrant on poly blends. Keep this in mind if that is a factor in your artistic vision. For me it was perfect.

Dylon dies have been my stand-by for 40 years. They are a reliable craft dye when used properly. That the company now includes the mordant with the dye is a great convenience.
This product worked just as it said.
Not as Good as It Appears
from Wauseon, OH
I dyed a brand new white shirt that I liked (just not as white) with the antique gray. The not-so-good: The dye is not true to color. I bought antique gray and it was very cool (blue-green). My shirt has also faded considerably from the sunlight (in patches) and I've only had it dyed for a few months. The good side: It was easy to dye; the color hasn't washed out in the washing machine.(DB is awesome and refunded me because the color was off. I just thought you guys should know about the fading problem).
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Super easy to use. Bold and vibrant colors. I left a shirt soaking in flamingo pink overnight, and ended up with a very intense pink. However, there were some darker/splotchy areas where the dye pigment had settled during the soaking process. Totally random, but a nice effect. (The pink was over a darker base.)One thing to note, make sure the fabric is evenly damp before putting it in the dye, otherwise the color will be noticeably lighter where the material had dried. Also, doesn't work well on a cotton/poly blend.

Transformed white tablecloth to deep Fla
We have a large round dining table and I can never find tablecloths in the bright colors I like. I bought a lovely round cotton cloth in heavy white fabric and first dyed it with two packs of Dylon. Too pastel for me so I re-colored it. Used six packs this time and it's perfect- completely even color, dark and rich. Lovely with our mango orange napkins and vintage Fiesta dishes. Used this in the washing machine for easier agitation (after pre-rinsing the cloth so it was evenly damp) and it worked so well.
Great Color & Little Effort!

Dylon fabric dyes give beautiful color, with little effort. I dyed two throw rugs, and the color came up bright and clear. There was no need to use hot water or mix chemicals. Once dyed and rinsed, I just popped them into the washer for a hot water wash, then into the dryer. Perfect!

I used it to tye dye some tee shirts for my son...he loved the way they didn't fade out when washed. Also experimented with some simple designs...but I'm not experienced at this but it still was pretty good and fun too.
