Dylon Cold Water Dyes include 26 vivid, permanent colors for use on most natural fabrics such as cotton, linen, canvas, jute, and viscose rayon. One small tin makes a solution sufficient for dyeing 6–8 oz (170–227 g) of dry weight material, or about the size of a hand towel. The Black will dye 4 oz (113 g).

Dylon Cold Water Dyes are not suitable for silk, wool, cashmere, mohair, angora, pure polyesters, synthetics, fabrics with special finishes, or polyester/wool mixtures.

Full directions are supplied with each tin. For best results use Dylon Cold Fix (or sodium carbonate) to make the finished fabric lightfast and washable.

Dylon Cold Fix — For tie dyeing, mix one ½ oz (15 g) packet with four tablespoons of salt in hot water and add to the dye bath to make colors lightfast and washable. Other methods of dyeing may require different amounts of salt and Cold Fix.

Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.

Health and Safety — Dylon ingredients are non-toxic, however unmixed dye is an extremely fine powder that can cause skin and respiratory irritation. The dyes are sodium carbonate based. Sodium carbonate, a common ingredient in household cleansers, is not toxic, but is alkalai and caustic.

Avoid prolonged exposure, and mix dyes in a well-ventilated area while wearing a mask or respirator. Do not let the dye splash into eyes. Mixing, preparing, and working with dyes is not an appropriate activity for young children.
