Duho Studios Exotic Hardwood Fine Art Panels

For centuries, hardwoods have been used as a painting surface because of their exquisite natural characteristics. Many of today’s artists also prefer to use hardwood panels as a substrate, often incorporating the wood’s grain, texture, and pattern to enhance their artwork.

The artists at Duho Studios take great care and pride in the manufacture of their exotic hardwood fine art panels, using only archival materials and no metal fasteners, which are susceptible to rust, wood discoloration, and distortion. “Made by Artists for Artists,” Duho panels provide an excellent rigid support for oil, encaustic, tempera, acrylic, enamel, collage, and experimental painting.

The face of each panel is covered with solid wood veneer over MDF, with a ¾" deep solid wood cradle that ranges from 1½" to 3" wide depending on the size of the panel. Choose from a range of exotic woods in a variety of sizes.

Note — Panels are made to order and may take up to 30 days to ship.

Bamboo — Sourced from Asia, Bamboo belongs to a family of woody evergreen plants that have a dense, fibrous, finely grained texture. Bamboo is a very hard, durable wood, yet very lightweight. Its neutral, richly toned strips are interspersed with slightly darker nodes, giving it a look uniquely its own.

Mahogany — Sourced from Africa, Mahogany varies in color from light-to-deep reddish-brown with a decorative appearance. Its grain ranges from straight to interlocked, with a texture that runs from moderately coarse to medium-coarse.

Purple Heart — Sourced from Central America and South America, Purple Heart ranges in color from a deep purple-violet to dark brown. It is usually straight-grained but often may be irregular or wavy and interlocked, producing a pleasing decorative appearance. It has a moderate to fine texture.

Zebra Wood — Sourced from West Africa, Gabon, and the Cameroon Republic, Zebra Wood has a light golden-yellow color, with narrow veining or streaks that range from dark brown to almost black, giving the surface a zebra-stripe appearance. Its grain is interlocked or wavy and produces alternating hard- and soft-grained areas, which gives it a decorative appearance. It has a coarse texture and a lustrous surface.

Note — Due to the natural characteristics of the materials used, wood grain, color, or pattern may vary from panel to panel.
