Looking forward to working more with these
from Warrenville, IL
I love the vibrancy and consistency. They mixed very well. A joy to work with. I only purchased three primary colors but will probably pick up a set in the future.
very good pigments
I am a scrimshaw artist. The marks I make are minuscule, and I need a pigment that is finely ground, and intense ic hue. the Hydrus inks fit the bill!. Ive used them for years and the permanency of the pigments is so important. I have not bee disappointed yet.

Fabulous and flexible
By Chuck's Ghost

I use these liquid watercolors to produce abstracts. I love the fluidity, mixability, depth of color as well as the ability to mix with water to create lighter shades. There are a couple of colors with which I am disappointed. RawUmber never seems to mid completely and Cobalt Violet's pigments seem to clump at full strength and creates little bars and floaters of concentrated pigment regardless of how much shaking the bottle receives.

Vibrant and worth every penny
from San Francisco, CA
I have been using pan and tube watercolors for a couple of months now and decided to give liquid watercolors a try. Dr. Ph. Martin's seemed to be the go-to for many artists I follow on social media, and I think they are definitely worth it. In terms of color these are super vibrant and concentrated. I got the Cobalt Blue and use it for many ocean-inspired studies, and am considering getting a set of the other colors for more of my floral and landscape works (which lend themselves well to vibrant colors). Although these are not as portable as pan or tube watercolors, at home they do a great job as long as the palette is on a desk (level surface) and can be left out to dry if being used/re-wetted for later. I also imagine these are good for large paintings, as a little goes a long way.

Hydrus is the only Paint I use and I was having trouble finding it in singles not needing entire sets so I sent Blick an email a couple years ago and they got them in stock not long after. Thanks Blick!

I love these paints
from West Palm Beach, FL
I'm a professional illustrator and I've been using Dr. Martins liquid watercolors for a few years. They are by far my favorite type of watercolor... will never go back to the tube or cake type. The bottles look small, but the paint goes a long way and lasts a very long time. I love how vibrant the colors are, and my paintings don't fade over time like some other watercolors. That being said, the hydrus watercolors are more permanent... you can't pull the color out with bleach or rub it out with water after it's dry. I know some colleagues who prefer the non-hydrus type for that reason. It's a matter of preference. I highly recommend this product.

Great semi-waterproof colors
from Chicago, IL
I bought these to use for inking lineart before coloring it in with watercolor and they work brilliantly. Once the liquid watercolor is dry it is relatively waterproof - the lines will not dissolve if they are worked over with more water and paint. Looks exactly like any other watercolor, absolutely beautiful, but with the added benefit of being able to do fine details first and painting over them without losing any of your work.
