Best in its category
Comments about Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleedproof White:
This product lives up to its reputation as a wonderfully opaque ink and is indeed just perfect for calligraphy on dark paper. It truly is the best in its category in terms of its opacity. If you're looking for a white ink that works well with the pointed pen. This is THE ONE. You will need to add a few drops of water to make it thin enough as it comes quite thick. Just stir the water into the top surface only, about half an inch or so.Highly recommended!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Wonderful white ink

This is my second jar. It lasts forever. I use it for calligraphy pointed pen projects. You can adjust the fluidity by the amount of water you add. Flows nicely.

Very thick, excellent coverage.

This ink is quite thick. I use a toothpick to stir it and then it flows nicely. As others have noted, this product is great for watercolor highlights. True white, excellent coverage.

Dr. Martin's is Great for Calligraphy
By Sally Sanders
from Arizona and Virginia
This is my favorite white for calligraphy. It flows well through the pen and has good solid coverage. I thin it with water for my small .5mm nibs and it is still able to cover most black surfaces , paper or paints, in one stroke.

This product was recommended to me by a friend for my water colors. It is perfect! Great to bring up those lost spots of whites. I've also used it to get a silky gouache-y color that doesn't grey out as they usually do while using China White or acrylic. Very, very good. *Pros- Opaque or transparent, water soluble, fluid, beautiful bright white, a little goes a long way.*Cons- Take a bit of practice to know how much water to apply, but all materials have a learning curve, so it's not a "real" con.

They were right... it works
from Southern Oregon
I've tried all kinds of "white" for linework, highlights and/or corrections in my sketchbook. Gel pens (not opaque enough, takes several layers), Posca white pen (takes minutes to shake up enough or it's watery and the tip is too thick for fine lines), white acrylic (okay but can give unwanted texture if thick and opaque, or too transparent when thin for fine lines), gouache (not truly opaque enough, and not waterproof), etc etc.SO... after reading several reviews, bought yet another product. And THIS one works! It's thick enough, silky smooth, totally opaque so you only need one pass; can thin a tiny bit for very fine work. My ONLY caution is: even after totally dry, do NOT go near it with moisture, it is not waterproof. So, use it last. Other than that, I am absolutely satisfied and can recommend it for truly opaque coverage.
Best white for watercolors, ever
By Electric Groundhog
from Bradenton, FL
This is absolutely the best product I have found for restoring white areas to watercolors. Gouache is too greyish and doesn't cover well. Watercolor ground and liquid watercolor paper have a thick texture that shows up immediately. This white ink covers perfectly and can be used with a brush or a pen. Just what you need to restore the gleam to a person's eyes, or a cat's whiskers, or (gasp) painting right over mistakes and starting again. I use it in my beginner art classes.
