Welcome to dickblick
Made in England, these high-quality pencils were designed specifically for the professional artist and designer. If you like the texture and blendability of Derwent Artists Pencils, but prefer a crisper, more precise drawing style, Derwent Studio Colored Pencils are for you!
All 72 pencils in the range are highly pigmented for maximum color purity. They share the same color core as Derwent Artists Colored Pencils, but have a slim, hexagonal barrel that's easy to grip. The 3.4 mm core sharpens to a fine point, producing a narrow color strip that's particularly well suited to detailed illustration work, such as botanical studies, architectural drawing, and graphic design.
Each hexagonal wooden pencil is strikingly finished in matte black with a color-coded end. Pencils are pre-sharpened. Studio sets are packaged in a handy hinge-lid tin box.

not very metallic
from fredericksburg, va
Comments about Derwent Studio Colored Pencils:
I was very disappointed because I thought the pencils would produce a much more metallic look. They are also very soft and the points break easily.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

A nice lead that is not too brittle and a bit creamy
By David Miles Illustration
from Kalamazoo, MI
I got these pencils on the recommendation of a friend. I wanted to do some sketching and experiment with some different media in the process. I really like the results I am getting with these pencils and I'm ordering a slightly different shade to continue my experimentation :). Moohaha!

a great addition to my hobby
from Southwestern Iowa
I really like the Prisma verithins and wishing they had more colors. As I was looking for some other brands that have similar qualities I came across these. Dewent Stuido pencils are delightful. Color saturation is grand and they hold their points rather well.very smooth delivery. I think I need the entire set

Derwent Blue Grey
I just bought a single blue grey pencil for shadows. The hue is really nice, perfect for coloring rocks and putting shadows even on faces and skin. But the pencil itself is pretty hard, I'd been warned about that with Studio pencils. I just didn't expect how hard it would be. It's still a solid pencil for the money. It does what I need it to do, so I'm happy!

I ordered the set of 12 Derwent Metallic Colored Pencils. They were disappointing as there was not much metallic color in the pencils. I have returned them.I am always satisfied with your selection and quality of art materials. Also, you pack them very well.
Merchant response: We're sorry that these pencils were not to your liking, and of course we were happy to assist you with a return. If there's anything else we can help with, we hope you'll let us know!

Another Winner from Blick
By Carla J
from Glenwood Springs, CO
I've used a variety of Blick products, so I knew it was the go-to source for a very special birthday present. The gift recipient is an outstanding artist and her choices of tools, paint, ink, pencil and medium are always precise. Her response to the Derwent Studio Metallic Pencils, Set of 12 was, as she says in England, over the moon! The construction of the pencils, the stunning colors and the striking tin carrying case were perfect. Plus, I get credit for my great taste!
Derwent Studio Colored Pencils for the Artist in you
from Feeding Hills, MA
The colors really stand out and let you use your artistic style. They are well made and the shape of the pencil shank makes for excellent handling.
Best fine art pencils I've ever used. Just fabulous.
from Palm Desert, Ca. and Whidbey Island Wa.
I use the pencils for original art, collage, and pencil books. The pencils are a little waxy so with varying the pressure you can get very soft or very strong colors. They don't seem to require sharpening as often. The pencil itself is larger in diameter than a standard #2 and so requires an adjustable sharpener. I purchased the most expensive set that comes in a wooden box. I thought it was quite pricey. Also, I wish the box had a handle on it for carrying.
