Derwent Inktense Pencils are as versatile as watercolor pencils, but with a firmer texture that allows them to perform with the brilliant intensity of traditional pen-and-ink. These pencils are available in strong, vibrant colors which work beautifully on their own or can be mixed together to create rich, subtle tones. The pure, clean colors are perfect for bold expressive drawings, including fashion illustration, landscapes, greeting cards, and more.
Inktense pencils can be used dry for rich, intense color or washed out with a little water to create a vivid translucent effect. Once dry, the color is permanent and can be worked over with other media. Pencils are pre-sharpened.

Been wanting these for a long time. I love them; so vivid in color and easy to use. I combine them with my watercolors and they really stand out. You can't go wrong with these pencils.

I wanted to use colored pencils on fabric. Was told to get Inktense instead. So glad I did. Color is bright and sharp and covers the material with a few strokes.

A joy with which to work
By Jeff near the Pond

I purchased the large set of Inktense Pencils without being certain how or when I would use them. They won me over immediately with their brightness, color range, and versatility. I use them often, even for large washes.

I did buy this item again !
from Howell, MI
Let me explain I bought the 72 set, but I couldn't get the hang of how to use the pencils. But I have friends that use them to color in coloring books and the pictures are so beautiful. The pencils don't bleed through to the back of a the page your coloring. It takes some time to get use to using them as I was not very good at coloring with watercolor type pencils. So my friends talked me in to keep working with them and I am having so much fun, I am liking the challenge. The colors are gorgeous and there several ways to use them, I have tried using a water brush and a colorless blender and both work very well, I would recommend the Derwent Inktense pencils if you are looking for a different medium to work with in your coloring pencils.
These pencils are the BOMB!
Truly vibrant color!

I use these pencils in my card making and art journaling. I love them because once I have activated them with water and let them dry they are permanent. This lets me layer them and apply washes of paint over them (and under them). I've very happy with my purchase!
