A slim stick of pure artist-quality graphite combined with premium clays, graphitone can enhance your next drawing project.
Use it like a usual pencil for excellent detail or unwrap the easy to peel paper and set the graphitone on its side for broad strokes. Because it is watersoluble, graphitone can be used for line and wash drawings.
Available in four degrees: 2B light wash, 4B medium wash, 6B dark wash, and 8B very dark wash.

Can't live without it
Comments about Derwent Graphitone Water Soluble Pencils:
These can be used to get really dark darks in a drawing and you can also use it as a water soluble pencil. One pencil, two uses, which makes it worth the money to me.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Nice versatile product
from Springfield, TN
I really enjoy working with this product. I haven't experienced the issue with breaking but I actually use mine less like a pencil and more like a paint since I find the graphite tone really appealing. For those with the breaking issue just keep the bits and put them in a small pan and use like a watercolor paint. If I had one issue with them it would be that I would like them just a bit thicker but other than that it's a great product.
Nice product but breaks easily
from WG, Rhode Island
I agree with the previous reviewer. I also got this product for its water solubility. It worked well as far as blending goes, but after about an hour, it broke in half. I don't think I had been applying too much pressure to it. Still, I'm left with small pieces to work with and will have to use my pencil extender very soon. Other than that, I'm happy with how the product looks when laid down on paper or canvas.
Derwent Graphitone Water Soluble Pencil
I use these pencils in mixed media for their water solubility. I bought these because of their water solubility and I love the product. What I don't like so much is after handling them awhile they are sectioned and they tend to break which leaves you with these small lengths.

Derwent Watersoluble Pencils wonderful
from Scotia, CA
wonderful wash both heavy and light. Gives a lot of control. Able to move around, lift excess, and apply more directly. Has the full richness of the Derwent Aquatone and adds more possibilities to your art experience.I only have two, the 2B and 8B. Not hard for the new artist exploring different mediums or those who just love working with graphite! Just another one of my new charished supplies from Derwent. Derwent is surpassing others in their extentions of the Old Master's tools (graphite and charcoal). You will also love the Derwent Graphitint. These are tinted graphite. The Derwent Metallic add depth and a rich hint of color to dark paper. I am in love with them all.

Graphitone is an excellent quality product and lots of fun to use! Pair a set of Graphitone pencils with Lyra water soluble graphite crayons (also sold by Blick) and you can get an amazing array of cool effects in your graphite art! Definitely five star rating.
