These soft, smooth, velvety pencils can be mixed and blended to create an infinite spectrum of rich, vibrant colors.

They're ideal for a wide range of drawing styles, from bold contemporary still lifes and portraiture to finely detailed work — fashion illustration, animal portraiture, and landscapes.

The unique formulation is highly blendable and glides smoothly over a wide variety of drawing surfaces. They are acid-free and tested for lightfastness. Pencils are pre-sharpened.

[...] Many artists have switched to the Derwent color pencils, so I decided to try the 76 color set. I am very pleased. The pencils seem to have more pigment than other pencils, almost like a pastel without the mess, and yet the amount of wax still gives the colored pencil working characteristics. I love the colors, they are easy to blend, very rich, and give a great variety of colors, more than other brands. My only wish is that the manufacuture would make more than 76 colors. [...]

I am a colored pencil portrait artist. I always liked Derwent colors but didn't care for the hardness. These are amazing. They are so soft and cover so well, they almost look like pastel pencils on paper.

While the Coloursofts are soft, smooth they ain't. They behave almost like oil pastels, leaving clumps of color. The color range is more suitable for fashion illustration and advertizing than for landscapes: lot of pinks, lilacs and ochres but not very many blues. A bit disappointing.

The Derwent Colorsoft pencils are among my favorites. They are creamy soft and have excellent coverage. The leads are sturdy and sharpen nicely. And they have big leads. I just wish they had a larger selection of colors.

I am very pleased with these pencils. They flow nicely on the paper and they complement the other Derwent sets. The color choices are superior, specifically the range of greys, ginger and several terracottas, cranberry, loganberry and yellow-greens which are not included in my other sets. I highly recommend these colorsoft pencils.
