Keeps Fingers Clean
I bought these when I bought my Derwent Color Sticks, if you really don't like smudgy fingers, these are perfect for keeping your fingers clean. I bought 3 gripper and 20 sticks, and find it too time consuming to keep pulling the color stick out of the gripper and slip a new color in. Maybe using fewer colors in my pallet might help! :-)
Keeps my hands much cleaner!

I use the grippers with the Inktense blocks. Keeps them from breaking and keeps my hands cleaner and dryer.
Block Grippers are great
from St Joseph MO
The grips make the sticks easier to handle and a lot less messy. Now I wish I had ordered more.
I have found it is beneficial to use them.

Useful and effective
I don't know what happened with the earlier reviewer's materials, but I have purchased several packages of these grip holders and have had zero problems getting them onto my Inktense sticks. This makes the sticks much easier to hold during drawing, and I think it is also less likely that I will break the sticks. Inktense sticks aren't all that messy, but these grippers help there, too. I am here to purchase one more package because I have a couple of sticks that don't have them yet. When you put them onto the stick, do it gently and hold the stick just above the gripper so there is as little stress as possible on the stick. I haven't broken one yet, and the grippers don't let the sticks slip during drawing. I put them as near as possible to one end of the stick and use the other end for drawing.

The Gripper crumbles the Inktense Block.
By Artgirl in VA
The Derwent Inktense Blocks have an accessory called a Gripper. It's supposed to fit over the Block to make it easier to use n less messy to handle. I tried to ease it over the Block and watched as it crumbled piece by piece. The small piece left in the Gripper split down the middle. This is the first rating n was wondering if anyone had success w this product. Thanks, Mary

Merchant response: We apologize for the issues you encountered with this product. Normally the Inktense Grippers slide easily over a dry Inktense Block. However, in attempting to replicate the crumbling you experienced, the manufacturer has found that if the block was previously wetted, the water-soluble waxes in the block may be weakened sufficiently by the water to crumble under pressure. Derwent would recommend that the blocks are used dry and then water added to the drawing, or that color is lifted from the block using a paintbrush. That will wet the surface of the block, but will prevent water being absorbed into the center, which is likely to cause crumbling later. As always, if you ever have specific questions regarding our products or how to use them, please contact our Product Information Department at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling (800) 933-2542. Derwent blocks are great to work with, though you may find that your fingers can pick up the graphite or colored pigment. And no one wants accidental smudges on their artwork. The solution is Derwent Block Grippers! The Grippers are a soft rubber that slide onto the block which makes for comfortable handling and clean hands. The Grippers fit on all Derwent blocks including graphite, charcoal, pastel and Inktense.
