Comments about Delta Soy Stains:
I bought this on a whim because it was on clearance. I am actually pretty happy. It does take about 3-5 coats to get the color I want but I like that it doesn't have noxious fumes. Just make sure you are applying your coats correctly. Rub them in with a paper towel and then let dry.I plan on using it to stain doors for some fairy houses I am making.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I'm very sad this is discontinued...
I have yet to find a better varnish for my polymer clay miniatures, though I'm sure it has a variety of other uses. It's very easy to achieve a matte or more glossy finish depending on what type of clay or material I use underneath and how many coats are added, so I don't need to bother with any other varnishes. I bought up as much as I could before it's possibly gone forever. I still hope that this or something very similar will be brought back to be sold in the future.

Was not happy with the color of this product. Was not a cherry wood stain that I have in mind. Will not be using. Would cost me more to send back and postage so I'm out the money from my gift certificate that was a present last Christmas. I liked that it was soy-based so was very excited that I don't like the color.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The odorless soy product is great for us as older people who do wood crafts. We do not have to worry about breathing a harsh stain. I am planning to reorder again probably the coming week. RMC
Not worth it!
By Sculpture & Ceramics
I bought all colors available. Product is not consistent, and dries very light in color. One color I bought I exchanged twice and it was still separated in the jar (unusable). I won't be purchasing them again.

Old and moldy
By K Allen

I bought nearly the whole product line, and went to use it about a year later, and everything was denatured and moldy. Even when I examined it when it first arrived, it had an offensive smell. I would not recommend this product.
color not as shown

Bought the cedar stain, showing as a LIGHT BROWN color on both the picture of the product, and the lid of the jar. On the wood color is ORANGE, even after using a sanding sealer.

Typical "water" based Stain
from Fremont, CA
This is a typical water based stain. As with all water based stains it tends to raise the grain on the wood, requiring a sanding after first coat and then one or more coats to get the color dark enough.I found it to be acceptable once I did three coats (sanding after the first) and allowed each to sit some before wiping them off. It is important to rub in the stain using a cloth and not just brush it on and leave it.As a final note, be sure to mix the stain well before applying. The color seems to settle.

I was not happy when i recieved this product at all. it said cherry. and came out a thin, pink/natural tone that did not give me the color i was hoping to achieve. cherrywood. there are no images of the finished color anywhere on the web, and this was something i had high hopes for only to be sorely dissapointed. it would be great if sellers could give an example of finished stain colrs along with products so other customers do not have to waste thier money and time as i did.
