This lamp is sturdy, quality made. I love to work at night and light is sufficient attached on the top of my easel for me to work comfortably on large pieces. Very easy to install, nice tight fit to an easel. Wish the head rotated a little further in degrees however the bendable neck makes up for the difference. Light is natural and doesn't get hot even after many hours of use.

Attaches easily to easel and gives great light. It is a little heavy, so once it is in place on easel you would want to keep it there, otherwise perfect studio lamp!

I was so excited to try the lamp right after I picked it up at my doorway. Nothing happened after I plugged the adapter and switched it on----No light at all!! Besides, it is so bulky and heavy I won't even try to attach it on my Julian box easel as I believe it will wobble and break the light tube. I will return it tomorrow.

I had high hopes that this expensive light would solve my lighting problems but I was wrong.I would have sent it back but figured once I paid for return shipping and insurance it would have been even a bigger loss. The light is not as easy as it looks to bend into the correct position and it does not always stay in position once you get it there. It also looks like cheap plastic housing for the bulb. I had to purchase another "swing arm" light ( $17.00)to place on my work table to give the extra light needed and now I can see the details that I love to paint.

I got this lamp to replace my old OttLite, and I was excited about it at first because my -only- complaint about the OttLite was that it was hard to maneuver into position sometimes for optimal light.

While this lamp does not have that problem, the first one I purchased didn't work. Plugged it in, turned on the switch, no light. Jiggled the bulb, still nothing. DickBlick's customer service was awesome though and arranged a pickup from fedex and replaced the unit with a new one very promptly.

The replacement did turn on, but the light sometimes flickered. After a month of just dealing with that I finally got frustrated and opened up the casing to get the bulb seated better, hoping to fix the flicker. While that did fix the flicker, it was almost impossible to get the casing back into place, and while growing increasingly frustrated with the poor way the plastic parts all fit together (or as the case may be, did NOT fit together), the bulb broke.

I NEVER had this much trouble with my OttLite in the past, and now I'm missing my old lamp.

I just got this lamp and it is not as good as I imagined it to be. It took me forever to place it on my easel. The metal hose is very sturdy and not too flexible which is a good thing (maybe not...?). The area the light covers is surprisingly small. If you have a big painting or drawing forget about it. My drawings are not that big and I already feel like finding another way to lit them. Maybe for the table this light will work best.

I tried to use this on my easel, with no success. The clamp is next to indecipherable in a vertical position. It's also very heavy. I dread moving it. The light is cold, very very cold, and flickers a bit. It's unusable for painting.

It is well made, solid. Between that and the price, I hate to trash it, but can't use it. Maybe I'll try to use it for plants.

I have this light attached to my easel and now I don't have to worry about time of day and lighting. Also no more eye strain while painting and mixing colors!! Everyone should have one.
