Daniel Smith Water-Soluble Oil Mediums have been specially developed for those who seek alternatives to toxic solvents. They're great for artists who share a studio or work in a poorly ventilated space, those with small children or pets in the studio, field painters who enjoy the convenience of thinning and cleaning with water, and artists who are traveling and would rather not transport combustible solvents.
Made to complement the Daniel Smith Water-Soluble Oil Color range, they are also fully compatible with other brands of water mixable oil paint.
Water-Soluble Fast Drying Linseed Oil
This modified linseed oil has a drying agent that significantly speeds drying time. It also thins paint consistency, improves flow, and increases gloss.
Water-Soluble Fast Drying Painting Medium
This medium makes colors more transparent and flexible while significantly speeding drying time. It is non-yellowing and virtually odorless.
Water-Soluble Modified Linseed Oil
This is the same special modified linseed oil used as the binder in Daniel Smith Water-Soluble Oils, and which makes them so rich and creamy. Use it to thin their consistency, improve flow, and increase gloss.
Water-Soluble Modified Safflower Oil
A water-soluble version of traditional, low-yellowing safflower oil, this medium is great for thinning whites and light colors.
Water-Soluble Painting Medium
This non-yellowing, low-odor medium increases flow, transparency, and flexibility.
Water-Soluble Transparent Blender
This medium is useful for extending Daniel Smith Water-Soluble Oils, which are very heavily pigmented. It increases transparency while maintaining the quality of your brushstrokes (great for glazing). It dries at the same rate as Daniel Smith Water-Soluble Oils.

Comments about Daniel Smith Water-Soluble Oil Mediums:
This review is for both the fast dry medium and fast dry linseed oil. As advertised, they both increased gloss, flow, and drying time. However, the claim that they're virtually odor free is misleading. I've tried many different oil painting mediums and these products are among the stinkiest I've experienced. Really strong chemical odor, which defeats the purpose of painting with water miscible oils. Probably won't buy again.

Good quality and long lasting
I purchased the transparent blender. I was originally going to use it for glazing but I found that I prefer not to glaze my colors so I use it to lighten and keep the brushstrokes out of my solid lines I use. I find that it really help eliminate brush strokes and makes the color much more transparent. You only need a little.I wish I had bought their Fast Drying Painting Medium but I went with Holbein for my painting medium. When I purchase more I'll be buying from Daniel Smith. I love their mediums and grounds.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

The best Water-Soluble Oil Mediums
By Avis Artist

Daniel Smith water-soluble oil mediums are the best water-soluble mediums I've ever used hands down. Everything is right. I wish they came in larger containers, and the price per unit was less. But, you get what you pay for, the best.
Best Quick Dry for Water-Soluble Oil Paints!
from Buffalo, NY
My favorite water-soluble quick dry mediums are the Daniel Smith ones (Quick dry linseed and quick dry painting medium. The linseed oil one dries very shiny and the painting medium much less, so I often mix them. They don't make the paint sticky and in fact it ones makes the paint smoother when you paint on. Also unlikle some quick dry mediums they don't leave the surface forever sticky, just as worst till they dry in a day to maybe 3-4 if your paint was very thick. While it of course depends on the thickness it seems to cause the paint to dry in half to a third of the time it normally would. Since I have been putting the Daniel Smith Quick dry mediums in all my layers I think I am ok as for fat over lean. I have tried as many of the water soluble Quick dry mediums as I could get my hands on and the Daniel Smith Quick dry mediums have become hands down my favorite. I only wish they would sell larger bottles.

I purchased these WS oils because I have sensitivity to oil solvents. For years I have been using acrylics, even the open kind and I just can't seem to get the hang of acrylic paint!! It frustrates me! I discovered this brand, Daniel Smith, and ordered some, I really wanted the chance to paint in oils again! I absolutely love them!! I did a lot of research and this is the best brand out there by far! They use a process that makes them REAL oil paints! They smell, look, and act just like regular oils. The only thing is the cleanup is much easier! I just use a little dish soap in water to clean my brushes and voila! Do not use water as a medium, that is not what it means by water soluble. I also purchased the Daniel Smith medium and oil and it works wonderfully! If any of you out there are looking to make the switch to WS oils, get this brand, you will not be disappointed!
