I have purchased locally A product to use in the same maner as I p,an to use this one. I was hopeing to save a dollar or two, but I sure was delighted to see that this product is so superior to the one I had paid twice the price for. I am delighted.

Works reasonably well for the colored pencil drawings that I do. The only time I have trouble is if I draw and erase and redraw many times in the same spot-- the paper starts to fall apart a bit sooner than more expensive brands do. But I can usually still get the drawing done without wearing all the way through the paper.

It's also slightly more transparent than other papers of the same thickness, but I actually consider that an advantage. If I mess up and have to start my drawing over again, it's easy to trace the parts I liked, to save time redrawing them.

My sketchbooks are mostly for, of course, sketches and lineart to be scanned for digital work.

Overall this is a solid sketchbook, definitely a bargain at this price, with a sturdy cover and wire binding. I especially like the page perforations, since I prefer to use a sketchbook as a pad for paper, not a permanent collection of drawings.

I was disappointed in the paper itself, though. It serves it's purpose, but if you're picky about paper, be aware that the paper in these books is soft and thin, it feels to me like I'm drawing on newsprint.

Not what I was hoping for, but if you're not bothered by the soft paper, it's a great value for the price.

For a four dollar sketchbook, you have to expect something to go terribly and horribly wrong.I'll be honest, I spent a day thinking about it before I put six of them. The argument was simple. Skepticism "It's too cheap to not have faults" vs Optimism "It's paper. How could someone mess that up". And ultimately I thought "Well, if someone somehow managed to mess up a sketchbook, at least I'll have a great story to tell people" So I bought it. [...]The covers are surprisingly good. It feels cheap, but sturdy. It's not an extremely hard cover, but it's harder than you'd expect. Ultimately though, the covers are sturdy. But there's one advantage to the material they use over other sketchbooks I've used.Other sketchbook covers expand when things get humid. Obviously, you want to keep your sketchbooks away from humidity or water. But sometimes it's unavoidable. You're carrying this thing with you to work or school. It's going to get damaged. Thus, why you need a cover.And those sketchbook covers EXPAND when wet, which is a problem when it's wire bound. Then you've got that awkward way of opening up your sketchbook to take a quick drawing down. These covers won't do that. The texture is finished with a fine mesh too.So that was awesome. What's more awesome is that the paper inside of it has the indentations so that you can quickly and cleanly tear out papers straight, without having to use scissors. I was also surprised by this because I've spent 15 - 20$ on sketchbooks that don't have that either.The wire bounding is also STURDY. They take a pretty good beating in my backpack, thrown around, tossed between friends, etc. A lot of times, the wire bounding will get pulled (because the paper isnt indented) and cause it to be difficult to open the book sometimes.Paper is also of a good weight as well. However, there is a disadvantage to this sketchbook. And I believe it's worth more than 4$, the book is actually close to being worth 10$. But I think it's defining flaw is the paper is made of a (guessing) 1% translucent material.It's not noticeable until you look close enough and you've done a second drawing. If you press the paper close enough you can see your second drawing beneath the first. DX, sadness. I noticed this when I was scanning the images and I saw a faint ghost of the drawings after them.The fix I have for this is that I just scan the page alone without sticking the entire book into the scanner. Not really much of an inconvenience to be honest, but still it was the only flaw I could find. Other than that. I had a fear that my drafting pencil after sharpened would slice right through the paper. I'm known to press too hard into the paper, but the paper surprised me as I haven't cut through it, and I haven't gotten indentations in the paper that I wouldn't get with normal printing paper.
