This review refers to the plastic jars of Daler Rowney acrylics, with the snap down lid. This was the worst packaging of paint I've ever seen. The paint was virtually impossible to get out of the container without removing the lid, which broke in no time at all. I had to decant the product into a half-pint mason jar, which made working with it even more of a hassle. They should stick to squeezable tubes.

Caps are of pure quality! 4 of 5 caps are broken, and I' rather gentle while screwing them :o(

I'm not a huge fan of acrylic's but when I do find the need for them System 3's both heavy and medium are my go to choice.

They mix unbelievably consistant and take very well to extenders so I don't need to have a huge color selection or extras. Using these have turned my painting sessions from dull to energetic without fear of financial waste.

But... the caps are easily stripped so that you're left with a plastic collar around the threaded portion, and the large white knob separated. An easy fix is keeping them is a mason jar with rubber seal after some plastic wrap and rubber band cap treatment. The color is rather good and with a palette easy to work with. 9/10 color, 2/10 product design.

These are perfectly good paints at a great price, but unfortunately the tops seem to be poorly made. I've broken the cap on at least four tubes of paint, and despite my best efforts--trying to superglue the cap back together, using plastic wrap to cover the top of the tube--I always end up having to throw out a half-full tube of dry paint.

This happened to three other people in my last painting class, so I'm pretty sure it's not just me. I like the paint, but I don't have the time or the money to replace my paints every few weeks, so I ended up switching brands.

For maximum brilliance, give your support 1-2 coats of gesso (I use Blick's).

Last year, I joined a social artists' group. I took the process set to keep things portable. Everybody in the group LOVES my colorwork and thinks even my palette looks pretty! Now, paintings I did before I started using these look muddy. Maybe other paints can match the color, but I doubt they'll match the price.

I loved system 3 for the strength of the colors but I did not know they had heavy body too. And they are so nice. And real heavy body. And so much more affordable than the "artist Grade" while still excellent. My choice, for sure.

This is marketed as student grade, but if I didn't know that I'm not sure I could tell the difference. Generally I use Golden, Mairmeri and Liquitex by preference. I got some of this to use as a colored ground under heavier layers of acrylic on canvas. I hoped it would work, because it's so much cheaper than artist grade,and underpainting consumes so much paint. Honestly I really wasn't expecting it to look that good. However, I was pleased by how bright the colors were, and how easily it spreads with a painting knife or brush. If you want a heavy-body paint for a built up surface texture, this isn't suitable. But for general acrylic painting it is a good and affordable option.

These are the only acrylics I will use, they are heavy and give exellent coverage, the colors are great and they blend well with each other. I tried the Basics acrylic paints because when I ran out of my System 3 acrylics because Micheal's did not carry them, I was SO disappointed by the comparison that I will use nothing else but System 3 when I'm painting.
