This is sold as a "natural" color paper. It is far from it.It is a very bright white paper. Also, someone felt compelled to plaster bar code stickers on each and every sheet.Stickers contain acid. (YES, they DO! Claims they do not are just plain silly.) Intentionally putting acid on an acid-free paper with an acid-free price is unthinkable.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Paint flowed very nicely and the paper was a pleasure to work with- no ripple, held water very well. I feel that my final product was greatly enhanced by using this paper.

Great Paper, Versatile and Tough
from Lancaster, PA
So, I've been waiting for something bad to happen with this paper, but so far I've been extremely impressed. When you first get it, the sheets feel really floppy and soft. It tears really easy, which had me worried about the toughness of the surface when wet. The torn edges aren't fluffy or fuzzy, just a nice torn deckle. The sizing and texture is really nice, with a pretty clear front and back. One embossed mill mark in the lower left corner on the full sheet, no watermarks that I could see.It takes washes really well without buckling heavily. It's nice and bright white. This stuff is TOUGH...as tough as Fabriano and tougher than the others except maybe the high grade pulp papers I use.It actually took some effort to scrub through the surface with my little home made scrubber brushes, and they'll eat through wet Arches within 8-10 strokes. In the picture below, here's what I did to the paper (Van Gogh paint used for testing):Dry brush swipe at the top to show the texture. Sky blue wash at top with a phthalo blue based cerulean hue. Grass green wash at bottom, phthalo green based. The dark block is pure phthalo green, phthalo blue and pyrrole rubine painted on full strength to test the lifting.I mostly only lift for thin lines and highlights, like the fence posts in the picture. Aside from the intentional over-scrub in the middle, all the lifts haven't broken the surface, and they all pulled up pretty easily. The damage in the middle dusted off pretty well when dry, and you really can't feel the broken surface.Very happy with this paper!

As Good as the Best!
By Palos Verdes watercolorist
from Palos Verdes, CA
As a professional watercolorist and architectural renderer, my requirements are for a paper that is rugged, has a good texture (not machine), and is willing to lift, scrape, and stretch without damage. I found that the color holdout is excellent, the lifting is very easy and this paper works as well as the most expensive! With the cost of French papers going thru the ceiling, it is time to stop using that same old same old and try this one! I found it to be very white, very good sizing and has two choices...one is CP on one side and R on the other! I recommend this paper for anyone serious about their painting.

A nice intro to watercolor
from Foothill Ranch, CA
I have very little experience with watercolors, so keep that in mind. This is one of the first pads I've used since switching away from oversized individual sheets and I quite like it. It's tone isn't "off white" which is more of what I was looking for rather than an ivory white, but, I felt it handled the job that I needed it to do. It worked well holding layers of watercolor washes and handled my gouache touch up work nicely. I definitely recommend taping it down as I noticed buckling after the third wash.
Langton Prestige is a 100% cotton, artist and conservation quality paper. Manufactured with extra l ong fibers for durablility and strength, these sheets can take heavy color washes without buckling.
