I searched in several art stores and in office supply stores for this size mat, however the prices were anywhere from $10 to $40 more for the same size mat and ones of lower quality. This price was terrific and the quality is outstanding. The grid on this mat is clear and detailed. It fits on my work area perfectly. It doesn't move when I use one of my die cutting machines on it and it cuts down on the noise from my eClips and Pazzles cutters. It is heavyweight and solid, the corner do not roll up, and it stays in place no matter what I am cutting.

I wanted a self healing mat not only for cutting off unwanted edges of large photographs, but for cutting large sheets of foam core backing for those photographs. The 32x40 foam core sheets fit very nicely with lots of wiggle room for placement of the long metal cutting edge as well. The gridlines and measurement guides come in handy too. If there is a negative side to this 36x48 inch mat, the only thing I can think of is, "Where do I store it when not in use?" but while in use it's nothing short of perfect.

I put 2 36"x48" black mats on 3/8" plywood and fixed the ends to attach together to cut out fabric for window treatments, panels, comforters, etc. By placing them end to end I have an eight foot lenth. This works great for my home decor projects.

I also purchased an 18"x24" mat to keep on my sewing table to have handy for small cutting needs as I am sewing.

These mats are so much thicker than any others I have seen. Great value for my money.

I ordered these mats because I wanted a mat that wasn't green or blue. I was looking for white when I found these. I am a quilter needed the thicker mat as I use a rotary cutter many times a day.
I love these mats. They heal very nicely.

My only complaint is that the corners are rounded which I woud have preferred so that when I butt the 2 I bought up toeach other there is a gap on the corners so I have to make sure I cut above the gap when cutting large pieces of fabric.

I use this for quilting. I have used many other brands from craft stores and they just don't last. I used my sisters several times and fell in love with it. I love the 1/2in. squares for cutting for 1/4in. seam allowances. I ordered 2 for me and one as a gift. Thank you Blick for carrying these.
