Comments about Da Vinci Russian Red Sable Travel Brush:
The brush was very disappointing. I thought I would try this travel brush even though it is expensive, but upon getting I saw the brush did not come to a nice point, tried it for a day and very, very disappointed. I have bought much cheaper brushes that performed much better. Not sure I will try another Di Vinci brand brush. I did return it and Blicks customer service was great.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Good brush for the price

Comments about Da Vinci Brushes Da Vinci Russian Red Sable Travel Brush:
As a watercolorist, I may be hard on my brushes... But these brushes are good for their price. Not the best (W/N Series 7), but very good flex and paint capacity. Tried a size 5 for a while, so bought more for myself for Christmas (sizes 3-8). Although the handles on them were weird to get used to at first (the cross-section is a smoothed hexagonal rather than a circle), after a while I came to really like the added grip they provide. It is especially important to me since I lost my index and middle fingers in an accident on my painting hand, but I think "normally-fingered" people will appreciate them, too. BTW, my paintings are fairly detailed; these brushes are comfortable for that extended painting time.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Works beautifully, and I love the fact that it has a sturdy cover. The cover screws on and you can really protect the fine liner bristles.

Love these brushes
from Dayton Ohio
These are pricey, but they are by far the best brushes I've used. They hol dthe paint exceptionally well, and give a smooth, flowing line. I mainly use acrylics, and although these are "watercolor" brushes, I find them to be a multi functional painting utensil!
Like a Pet

This brush maintains its shape after repeated use (but don't scrub). When I first opened the package I wanted to pet the sable it was so soft. Even so the hairs have plenty of spring so you can maintain a stiff line when needed and still use in a wash for quick even coverage. Love this brush.

I have the 5/0 liner. It's been exactly what I needed.

Water color painting is almost effortless with this brush. It is fun to use.

These excellent brushes hold a point with daily wear and stand the test of time. I use them solely for my acrylic paintings on 240 lb. rag paper.

Comments about Da Vinci Russian Red Sable Flat Wash:
It's somewhat difficult to know how to review this brush because it is quite different from what is specified on this page. Having ordered a no. 6, I expected its bristles to correspond to the dimensions specified, 6.4mm x 11mm, which do indeed describe a flat wash style brush. What I received was more of a one stroke with bristles quite a bit longer. By my measurements, the head of the brush is 6.4mm x 16mm (with width measured at the ferrule). Checking the product number against the page, I can confirm I have the correct brush. Perhaps these "run large", though given their limited availability, I am not able to confirm this with any certainty.Another note on this brush. Once wet, the bristles fan out considerably. The effective stroke is closer to 8mm because of the way the toe spreads.Even though these points make this brush less than ideal for my use, I expect the properties that I count against it might make it suitable for someone else. As for the handle, it is among the most comfortable I have come across.

I am learning Iconography. these brushes were recommended to me. I'm still in the "struggling" stage, but the brushes seem to be very good. Don't lose hairs, and have a sharp enough point to make narror lines for outlining.
