Great for watercolors, gouache, illustration, animation, restoration, and rendering, Da Vinci Russian Red Sable brushes are high-quality brushes and an excellent value.
The brush hair, which comes from the Ussuri River region in Siberia, has excellent snap, plus superb water-holding and color-holding capabilities. It also holds a precise point or edge for painting details. The eco-friendly wood handles come from sustainable forests.

Comments about Da Vinci Russian Red Sable Watercolor Round:
Pure sable brushes are so terribly expensive. These Da Vinci Brushes are excellent and perform as I need.

Comments about Da Vinci Russian Red Sable Travel Brush:
I got a travel synthetic brush #5 in a watercolor set. I loved the idea and how it unscrews and becomes very portable. So I tried the Kolinski Sable (not this one) and loved it too. I was so afraid I would eventually wear it off or lose it I decided to get the Red Sable ones too as a "reserve" as they were a little cheaper than the Kolinski ones. I cannot tell the difference. I believe the 2 davince travel sable brushes (Kolinski and Red Sable) perform the same - maybe over time one will keep its point longer than the other, don't know! If you want a good value in a portable brush that you could also use at home, this is a great choice. I just wish Davinci would make other shapes too in the travel line !!
Nice sharp point
Comments about Da Vinci Brushes Da Vinci Russian Red Sable Flat Wash:
These days, it's hard to find quality, even when you pay top dollar. I recently bought series 7 and was sadly disappointed. The norm is to expect bent and stray hairs. I'm sorry, but I can't get used to that. However, I ordered the Da Vinci brushes, not expecting much, and was pleasantly surprised. I'm studying to be a botanical artist and a pointed round in many sizes is necessary. These are absolutely fabulous. In fact, they are better than the WN Series 7, which I also have.

The brush was very disappointing. I thought I would try this travel brush even though it is expensive, but upon getting I saw the brush did not come to a nice point, tried it for a day and very, very disappointed. I have bought much cheaper brushes that performed much better. Not sure I will try another Di Vinci brand brush. I did return it and Blicks customer service was great.

Good brush for the price
from Westcliffe, CO
As a watercolorist, I may be hard on my brushes... But these brushes are good for their price. Not the best (W/N Series 7), but very good flex and paint capacity. Tried a size 5 for a while, so bought more for myself for Christmas (sizes 3-8). Although the handles on them were weird to get used to at first (the cross-section is a smoothed hexagonal rather than a circle), after a while I came to really like the added grip they provide. It is especially important to me since I lost my index and middle fingers in an accident on my painting hand, but I think "normally-fingered" people will appreciate them, too. BTW, my paintings are fairly detailed; these brushes are comfortable for that extended painting time.

Works beautifully, and I love the fact that it has a sturdy cover. The cover screws on and you can really protect the fine liner bristles.

Love these brushes
from Dayton Ohio
These are pricey, but they are by far the best brushes I've used. They hol dthe paint exceptionally well, and give a smooth, flowing line. I mainly use acrylics, and although these are "watercolor" brushes, I find them to be a multi functional painting utensil!
Like a Pet

This brush maintains its shape after repeated use (but don't scrub). When I first opened the package I wanted to pet the sable it was so soft. Even so the hairs have plenty of spring so you can maintain a stiff line when needed and still use in a wash for quick even coverage. Love this brush.

I have the 5/0 liner. It's been exactly what I needed.
