Nova Synthetics differ from other golden synthetics in their enhanced ability to hold water and color. Many other golden synthetics are glass smooth, but Nova synthetics use golden synthetic filaments of three different diameters with tiny ridges along the fibers that slow down the flow of water or color off the brush. These filaments have been specially shaped and tapered to adapt to the qualities of synthetic rather than natural hair.
These brushes are extremely responsive for brushes in this price range, and are offered in a wide range of shapes and sizes. All feature nickel-plated, seamless brass ferrules that are resistant to rust.
Nova Retouch (Series 5575)
Retouch brushes have the shape of a Round, but short fiber length and an extremely sharp point for maximum control. They are suitable for all waterbased media, including acrylic. Use them for placing small amounts of color very precisely. Another name for a Retouch brush is a Detailer.
Nova Showcard Long Round (Series 1175)
The Showcard brush was an advertising sign painter's brush, longer and with a fuller belly to hold more color. Nova Series 1175 brushes are extra long and have a more elastic point than typical rounds.

Great liner brush!!
from alexandria, Virginia
Comments about Da Vinci Nova Liner:
Exquisite lines made, great control great synthetic brush. When shipping, however, maybe blick can secure the top of the brush with one of those plastic brush protector things. This was just shipped in a padded envelope with a QoR pan of watercolors and the brush arrived bent with a few straggly hairs. with use everything fell back into place while wet.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

A high quality synthetic
from Boston, ma
Comments about Da Vinci Brushes Da Vinci Nova Round for Watercolors:
These are high quality synthetics. I am glad I purchased the set which provides a nice mix of sizes and shapes. No doubt these will last a very long time. Most synthetics are either too stiff or too soft but these offer a nice balance. I am rating them at four stars rather than five, since they are a bit too expensive for what they are. However, the quality is quite good. I buy da Vinci with confidence.

Comments about Da Vinci Nova Round for Watercolors:
Thanks DickBlick for the fantastic delivery! I bought a 3/0 Nova Touchup brush for small details. Came brand new and wonderfully packed. The brush came with a cap and was wrapped around cardboard. Very well cared for! :)I love the shade of green this brush's handle has; it has a super smooth finish, too. High quality brand!
I love these brushes

I use the brushes for retouching. Since the series 7 brushes by WN have been unavailable in the country, I stick with these handy brushes. I do use the smallest ones...I only gave it 4 stars not because of the brush but because they often arrive without the plastic cap. I buy the tiniest brushes and Blick doesn't send them with the cap?! Actually at least one product comes damaged from them an order. This last order two out of 5 brushes came without the protective cap.

My watercolor teacher recommended this product as a "scrubber" for smoothing out the rough edges of your work after the paper is bone dry. This is the best brush I have come across....for this purpose. It does the job without tearing out the paper....Amazing!

Soft and Beautiful
By Intuitive Painter

This is one of my favorite watercolor brushes along with the Escoda Perla Toray White Synthetic Short Handle brush. Where the Escoda is a bit firmer and better for more detailed work, this brush is by far my favorite (& I've tried quite a few) when it comes to abstract painting as it allows me to move the color with the right amount of water. The bristles are soft and yet hold its point. I've been using the larger round brushes for pieces and so far, it's my go to brush.

Purchase one of these brushes #5 to see what the quality was like. Very very pleased with the brush. Since I picked it up I've been useing it consistantly. Unless someone gives me a better brush, this is the ones for me.

BEST IN CATEGORY - high price
By RS Connett

Of the synthetic "taklon" type brushes ... There are several brands available. After years of testing the different products these are arguably the best. There are many sizes and brush shapes to choose from. The liners and "long rounds" are especially nice. These are expensive, BUT, unless you beat them to death, they will last longer by far than some others. I have used fine liners for 5 years, and STILL get a perfect line! Da Vinci is perhaps the best brush company in the world. Certainly one of the largest and most diverse. This is a 5 star product.

These brushes seem to be holding their shape and they fit perfectly in my painting kit that I take with me when traveling to demos and onsite painting adventures.
