My favorite brushes are the Hog Bristle brushes.
Comments about Da Vinci Brushes Da Vinci Maestro 2 Hog Bristle Bright:
I use acrylic paints and I find this type of brush the best for my type of painting. I have hog bristle brushes in different sizes and shapes. I have tried other types of brushes but they were not to my liking. If you keep them clean they last for a long time.I have nothing negative to say.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Da Vinci Maestro 2 Hog Bristle Bright:
the smaller sizes can become ragged quite quickly but they are my preferred brush
They do not keep their shape
from Tampa, FL
I bought these brushes alongside some Blick Masterstroke's to begin my foray into oil painting. I am very conscientious about cleaning my brushes and using a brush cleaner/conditioner to keep their shape. I never leave them in any solvent and I clean them after every painting session. However, these brushes don't keep their shape. They lose hairs and don't keep their shape. I am really disappointed since these are rather pricey.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Great Bristle brushes!
from Rural Western Colorado
I got number 8, 6, 4 and 3 of these DaVinci Maestro hog bristle brushes. I have used them for a few paintings and they are holding up really well. They don't frizz out except for 1 or 2 hairs on the number 3 brush. They hold the paint well, clean well and perform well. They stand up to scrubbing and power-dabbing as well as strong swishing on the canvas. They clean up well. The number 8's white bristles were stained after I used some Thalo Blue but cleaning it with Master Brush cleaner took that off. I can see these will be my "go-to" bristle brushes from now on. Thanks also to the customer service professional who helped me select them.

what had been my favourite brush maker seems to be cutting corners. compared to some old brushes of the same size I still have, the new ones have thiner ferrules and thus less density of hairs. Handling is poor now, definitely not the same brush anymore.

Finally reviewing my brushes after using them for awhile, since durability is key for such expensive items. I bought (invested in) the largest filbert on sale in 2011, and it has been a treasure, handless beautifully, keeps it shape, great brush. Recent reviews are very negative, so Da Vinci must have changed their manufacture.

I love DaVinci Brushes. I have several of the Maestro2 brushes and I love them. I find them to hold their shape very well even after they are cleaned up. Sometimes the bristles will flair out of shape after the brush dries but once I get them wet again and loaded up with paint they hold their shape perfectly. Which is standard with good brushes. I bought a 2" bristle mottler that the bristles fell out of the furrel after a year, however after contacting DaVinci about said brush they sent me a new one. Great customer service!

The filbert I bought became unusable right after the first time I painted with it -- it fanned out and never regained its shape, the bristles are week with no spring. It was very disappointing, particularly because the product is made by the same company that makes beautiful kolinski brushes. I am wondering if the brush I bought was made elsewhere...

I can not express strongly enough how much I hate these brushes. They are the worst bristle brushes I have. Weak, Thin, No shape,Wild Hairs. For Da Vinci to market these brushes as professional quality is to propagate a world full of lies.
