Welcome to dickblick
Da Vinci Kolinsky Red Sable Oil Brushes combine great resilience and softness to create a brush that is perfect for spreading color thinly and evenly to achieve fine shades of color and structure.
Each brush has a long, maroon, polished handle.
In the sun-filled rooms of the Da Vinci factory, production masters, interns, and apprentices sit at marble working tables. Visitors often marvel at the calm atmosphere not usually found in a factory. They often compare it to a laboratory or studio, as the silence of concentration prevails, interrupted only by occasional consultation and conversation.
Brush hairs are glued into the ferrule by a dosing machine. Then the ferrule is filled with a modern component-glue. After the drying and curing process, all the hairs are firmly positioned. Da Vinci uses nickel- and gold-plated brass ferrules, which are rust resistant.
A welcome addition to the Da Vinci Kolinsky Sable brush line, the Fat Filbert offers four times the thickness of Kolinsky Sable and a slightly shorter length than a standard Filbert brush.
The Series 1823 Fat Filbert is excellent for layering and glazing, and it allows for the greatest control and detail, making it ideal for details, miniatures, and precision painting. An extra thick belly provides a solid foundation for shape retention.

Comments about Da Vinci Kolinsky Red Oil Sable Flat Series 1812:
The Red Sable is my favorite brush whatever its configuration. I use hog bristle sometimes, but my heart isn't really in it.

Great brush for blending
I think it's a great brush, but don't have enough experiences with other brushes to know if it's the best in its category. I was using it for blending and love it. It holds its shape and edge well. I use Da Vinci brushes for watercolors as well and love them. Overall I think it was money well spent.

Comments about Da Vinci Kolinsky Red Oil Sable Round Series 1610:
Please put a protective cap when shipping. It was smushed into the corner the brush part bent. I was able to wet and put back into shape but really, I bought cheaper brushes than this that came with a protective cap over the brush.
One of my steady favorites.

I recently began painting again, and my boyfriend gave me brushes for Christmas to start my oil painting endeavor. I was greatly disappointed, as after 3 paintings were complete, my Langnickel brushes were frayed at the tips, making them useless to me. After looking on line, I knew I wanted to get a red sable set, and none of the local art suppliers had real sable. I ordered a few from another company, but their selection was poor. When I saw your website, and noticed the low prices on your high quality brushes, I immediately ordered the ones I needed. I couldn't be more pleased! Your end result is only as good as the tools you use...I have created several new pieces using my brushes, it made it so effortless, as you did not have to struggle with an inferior product. I will continue to purchase my tools through your website, thank you!

These brushes are simply gorgeous and amazing to use. Very soft and leaves no brush marks. I would not use them for heavy oil paint though more so thin glazing.

I bought a round #4 from this series for detail work in oil. After just a few painting sessions the tip is now blunt and now won't come to a point, and there seems to be fewer hairs on the brush. Not sure if this was a defective brush, but I expected more from a Da Vinci brush.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
