Da Vinci Kolinsky Red Oil Sable Brushes combine great resilience and softness to create a brush that is perfect for spreading color thinly and evenly to achieve fine shades of color and structure.

Each brush has a long, maroon polished handle.

In the sun-filled rooms of the Da Vinci factory, production masters, interns, and apprentices sit at marble working tables. Visitors often marvel at the calm atmosphere not usually found in a factory. They often compare it to a laboratory or studio, as the silence of concentration prevails, interrupted only by occasional consultation and conversation.

Brush hairs are glued into the ferrule by a dosing machine. Then the ferrule is filled with a modern component-glue. After the drying and curing process, all the hairs are firmly positioned. Da Vinci uses nickel- and gold-plated brass ferrules, which are rust resistant.

Note — Brush sizes are not standardized. The length and width of a brush of a given shape and size varies considerably by manufacturer. Since fine art brushes are handmade, expect some variation even among brushes from a given manufacturer.

Used an #18 Flat and bristles were coming out all over my painting. I had to wipe off all the paint and start again with another brush.

I am using this fat filbert brush for finishing small wooden items with shellac and other finicky finishes. There are absolutely no brush marks--at all. But be prepared to buy a slightly smaller brush than you think you need, because the brush holds so much liquid that it will go on thicker than you want if you aren't covering a large enough area.

Quality is worse than what I expected

I am using the Da vinci sable round size 00, 0, 1 to paint miniatures and so far I have been less than impressive with the series. The handle is really long and thus make movement feel awkward and hard to control. It has only been one week since I bought these brushes and already the hair on the tip have became un-focused and even when you wet them with water and paint, the shape will not hold for more than 2-3 stroke. Since this is a kolinsky sable brushes I have expected the hair to be better but I was wrong.

I paint birds and there for use thin oil paint and need a brush that will hold thier shape and these brushes will not do the job. Just one time painting with them and they lost hair and the hair is sticking out all over the place. I do decilate work and in no way am I hard on brushes. I have some brushes that are 15 years old that are for arcylic paint and they do a better job in oils that these brushes. I am soooooo disapointed I could just cry.

I have been using Da Vinci Red Sable brushes for over a year and they are great. The filbert brushes are my favorite, they blend the paint on the canvas so smooth it could'nt get any better. However you have to care for them properly just like any other brushes if not the bristles will get deformed and start to fall apart.
