Holds more water than any other synthetic. Large belly tapers to a fine point. The blending and placement of 5 different diameters of fine synthetic filaments make this brush perform like natural hair.
The long-lasting, high quality synthetic fiber has an energetic spring. Brushes are made by hand, so there may be variation with the handles.
Vario Tip Brushes
These brushes feature a blend of Spin and Nova filaments in different lengths for parallel line and multi-textured effects. They can be used with all media and feature nickel-plated, seamless brass ferrules that are resistant to rust.

These DaVinci brushes are perfect for watercolor. They hold plenty of water/pigment and have a wonderful snap. They keep a perfect edge (even if I don't).

Comments about Da Vinci Cosmotop Spin Rounds Series 5580:
I bought the #14...holds a lot of water, and I love it!
My watercolor favorite!

Comments about Da Vinci Cosmotop Spin Quill Series 488:
I love this brush because of its snap. In some ways it has changed the way I paint because I can manipulate the brush in ways no other brush can. After a year or so they wear down, and I've replaced a few. But, I will never go back. Oh, and PS, the quill style is in inspiration in itself in its own steampunky way!

Practical and clean shape

Comments about Da Vinci Cosmotop Spin Travel Series 1573:
I have only used it a couple of times since I got it. It has a nice weight for the size and it has held its shape post washing after each use. Rated it only a 4 because I have not had a chance to use it very much. I do expect it will hold up well
A Sharp brush.

I am a urban sketcher who does mostly watercolor and ink. I sketch every single day during lunchtime. I used to carry an Escoda #6 travel brush but had switched to Niji waterbrushes for convenience. However, I missed using a real brush, so I started looking for travel brushes. I also was looking for a brush versatile enough to do small or bigger sketches. I considered the Cosmotop Spin and the Maestro because of their design, prefer screwing it together than the friction based Escoda. I am tired of making the mistake of not buying the best thing only to see myself spending even more money when I am not happy. I had decided buying the Maestro, but the only available was the #12, maybe a little too big for my sketchbook. So, I went for the #10 Cosmotop Spin. And I am so happy I did.The design is perfect, great weight, great finish, but most important, great brush. I have tons of brushes, both synthetic and sable, but this one is my favorite so far. It actually holds too much water for my sketchbook (9"x 6"), so I'll be getting bigger sketchbooks for this brush. It is a delight to work with it. And every time I open it it looks in perfect condition. This brush is so good that I'll be getting a smaller one for the smaller sketchbooks. I only have about 20 minutes to sketch at lunchtime, so I can't wait too long for the sketch to dry.I haven't tried the Maestro to compare it with, but the Cosmotop Spin is definitely be my go to brush for a long time.
