These durable wood-cased pastel pencils have the same pigment used in Cretacolor's Pastel Carré Sticks, a hard pastel, and so are intermixable. They give the same brilliant colors and high lightfastness.
Pastel pencils are characterized by especially soft, oil-free strokes.Colors are mixable, wipeable, and water-soluble. Fixing is required. Color-coded tips permit easy identification. Pencils are pre-sharpened.

The best of all the different pastel pencils
By Art girl

Comments about Cretacolor Fine Art Pastel Pencils:
These pastel pencils work better then any of the different types of pastel pencils I have. They are easy to blend and don't make a mess like some of the others do. I would definitely buy them again.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Pretty nice for the $
from Redmond, OR
Really nice for the money. Would recommend for the dollar conscious artist. Great range of colors as well. Can be a problem with breakage when sharpened. Richness of pigment is lacking in some of the colors I have purchased. However whites and blacks are quite rich.
Nice pastel pencils

I used the pencils making homemade cards. I would color in flowers, butterflies or trees. I used them to make edges or sharp lines to outline my flowers. They work well with the pan pastels and can be blended together.

I am anxious to use the pastel pencil seet that I purchased. I am realitively new to the use of pastel and will be trying a new project soon. It is too early for me to give a proper evaluation of this product.

I was hoping for a softer pastel pencil. These work but require more layers.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: We're sorry to hear that these pencils weren't as soft as you hoped. One of our Customer Care Agents will be in touch to see how we can help.
Better suited for fine details work
I got the set of 72 and the colors are fantastic. However, they are rather hard and for me only good for fine detail work. I don't use them as much as my Stabilo Carbothello or Koh I Noor Giocanda which are smoother and creamier. If you're looking for something for detailing that needs a sharp point, the Cretacolor is for you.
