Cretacolor's innovative Aqua Brique is the only watercolor block you can draw with. Add a few drops of water, and you've got liquid watercolors.
The Aqua Brique can be used for a variety of techniques on a variety of surfaces. Highest-quality pigments assure smooth color laydown for classic watercolor work, sketching, drawing, sgraffito, blending, and monoprint. The colors can be thinned for use in airbrushes.
This set of 10 includes the colors Permanent White, Cadmium Yellow, Orange, Carmine Extra-Fine, Delft Blue, Prussian Blue, Light Green, Emerald Green, Sienna Natural, and Ivory Black, plus a reusable pop-up sponge. The sponge can be used on large areas to create washes, for adding details, or for cleaning drawing materials.

These Briques are fun to work with
from Long Beach, CA
Comments about Cretacolor Aqua Briques Pan Sets:
When I first received these briques I tried each one out for the color, and the colors are beautiful. I haven't tried them in a picture yet, but am anxious to do so, and I think they will produce a soft warm picture. So far I am totally satisfied.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Cretacolor Aqua Briques
By Deborah Susan Hill, chief cook..
from Argyle, Wisconsin
The colors are brilliant, jewel like and transparent! i Love these paints. I tried them out against the inktense blocks and overall they are better in terms of their intensity and transparency. The inktense tended to turn to mud were more granular and opaque. to each their own I guessI give the cretacolors an A+ and the inktens a C in terms of letter grades..

Big Girl Crayons
By Nan the artist
from Columbus, OH
I tried these after a recommendation from a fellow artist. These are great that you can pick up the chunk and draw like a big crayon. I think the color mix is a bit too basic in this set, but the larger set wasn't available. Although each piece is large, overall, I felt this was way overpriced from the manufacturer. Also, the packaging looked really old and the tin was slightly dented. Looked like it had been on the shelf for a long time. Considering that they only have limited stock, it appear they will be discontinuing this product.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Fantastic for travel and Great Colors
By Julia the Printmaker
I found these colors perfect for travel when I make quick watercolor sketches. Here I show a split second action sketch but I also use colors for more developed paintings.

WOW the COLOR
I will never pick these bricks up and draw with them...but I love painting with them. The colors are so vibrant. I am experimenting with sponges for different effects.

Cretacolor Aqua Briques set of 20
By D. Petillo
The 20 color set is an improvement over the 10 color set as it includes some of the more essential colors- white, for instance. It can get as messy as the 10 color set, but the expanded palette makes it worth the added cost. Not useful as a travel set, but a worthwhile addition to the home studio.
Cretacolor has an impressive line of watersoluble products including briques, pencils, crayons and pastels. All of these products perform wonderfully as drawing tools — but become fluid and even more brilliant when you add water. This video defines the various attributes of Cretacolor's Aqua Briques, Aqua Stics, Aqua Monolith Pencils, Marino Watercolor Pencils and Carré Pastels.
