Crescent Select Conservation Solids are made from wood pulp fibers that have been chemically treated to eliminate the acids and lignins that normally degrade artwork and matboards.
Each of these 4-ply and 8-ply mats have a solid color throughout and are color matched for maximum versatility and usability. The color palette ranges from a vibrant, clean Vivid White to the natural warmth of Cream to the richness of Deep Black. Crescent Select Conservation Solids are acid-free, lignin-free, and made from 100% alpha-cellulose fibers.
Made in the USA.

Beautiful white mat board but damaged corners when arrived
By Georgiafrom NewYork

Comments about Crescent Select Conservation Solids Matboard:
The white of this mat board is very nice and the quality is very good. Unfortunately the sheets came with damaged corners but I did not have the time to return them as my framing job was due. Since the damaged corners were a Dick Blick issue I didn't want to give a lower rating. Beware though that you need to order this item in time if you need the full size sheet.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought 3 mat boards: antique white, white, and vivid white. The problem with not having corners on hand means you have to guess as to what might suit the art and frame you're working on. The mat boards arrived very quickly and in perfect condition! This is a first for me since normally a corner might be dinged or bent. I was so happy with quality! It was difficult to see which side of the mat board was up though. I suggest looking under good lighting.

This Matboard arrived flat and unharmed, and performed as expected from a Matboard.

The 8 ply was just what I wanted. I was worried about shipping. It arrived in perfect shape and almost overnight. Thank you for the extra care in shipping.

Getting ready to mat & frame a whole pile of works on paper. Something I have noticed about these boards: they are more forgiving than cheaper boards. Because the color is the same all the way through, imperfections in the cuts can be sanded and/ or burnished. In my opinion, this makes them a better buy, even if they cost a little more than regular mat board. Also, Blick's ships SUPER fast, which makes me happy!!!

I use white, off white, light grey for framing watercolors. I also use the 2 ply version for backing. It is museum grade quality so the ctu edges do not turn dark.

Best deal on Matboard

I use the matboard as backing for mated pictures. It's good matboard. The site I was planning to buy from required I buy at least 10 of them. I bought 5 on blick and saved a lot of money. It's just matboard, but a better deal.
Professional Look, Awesome Price
By Roberto Liera

We wanted to use 8-ply boards for this project. Not only we got a great price, but the look obtained is amazing. The 8-ply provides such a nice framing that our photos could be hanging on a gallery! They are very sturdy and will not bend so you can use them on large pieces like our 20x30's. Given the amount og boards that you can cut and re-cut, we figured out that 4-ply vs 8-ply on small pieces would only make a difference in cost of about $2 per piece. Use them to give a professional look to you art. Remember, these are very hard to cut, so you need to have an 8-ply cutter (you can order from BLICK (item #17190-5000) otherwise you will bend and damage your regular cutting blades. Very glad to receive my boards in perfect condition on a double wall box, no dented corners and all 100% usable. Very happy!
Great quality, price and service
Great to get color thru mat without needing a mortgage!
