Crescent Select is made of alpha-cellulose (wood pulp) fibers that have been chemically treated to eliminate the acids and lignins that can degrade your artwork and matboard.
Suitable for minimum levels of conservation framing and as an alternative to non-conservation matting, Crescent Select is ideal for fine art prints, limited editions, documents, and photos.

I don't know whether or not this matters, but I bought a Crescent Select mat and took it to my local Hobby Lobby to get it cut. The guy came out asking whether it was supposed to be acid free, and I said yes, but then he said that acid free boards will be the same color on the front and on the back, and that unfortunately, my board was colored on the front but blank white on the black. That indicated to him that it wasn't acid free. I think he's wrong since Crescent SAYS it's acid free on their website. Just be aware that he raised some doubt in my mind.
