There was a bit of apprehension when I purchased this paper because every other paper bleeds to the other side. I was pleasantly suprised when I used it for the first time, no bleed whatsoever! The other side of the paper doesn't even show stresspoints from the tips of my markers and pens. Yes the paper is a bit thicker than others but it is still light enough to be moved quickly and doesn't feel like illustration board or poster board.

I bought this to do watercolor, marker, and ink paintings, this paper runs, it won't hold a crisp line with ink, it darkens when you apply watercolor to it changing the color you see, ending in a different end result color.

This product does what it claims -- it keeps inks from bleeding through paper, however, the smell of the sketchbook that I purchased was overbearing. The sketchbook was shrinkwrapped in-store, so I had no idea or way to know that the paper would smell. The paper has a vaguely chemical scent to it at first, which gets much worse once marker is applied to the paper. While the paper did perform well, I found my brand new sketchbook completely unusable due to the headache-inducing smell of the paper, and I was extremely disappointed. If you're sensitive to strange smells in any way, stay away!

Get over your fear of markers with this stuff. I saw it on display and had to give it a try (since I got a stack of Copics for my birthday). Layer after layer after layer of markers and blending—no bleed through (see this link for an example of work on this paper http://lilith-darkmoon.deviantart.com/art/121020-Nereid-333695090 ). Micron pens take equally well to this paper, but crow quill pens can abrade the surface. The only downside to this is the smell—kind of a chemically scent, though I think individual sheets might be more appealing than a sketchbook of this paper.

In closing: get this paper, if you want to explore marker rendering and are frustrated with bleed through and feathering.

This is the closest thing to the perfect sketchbook I've been looking for. I like to sketch on location with different media, markers (Copic, Prismacolor, Letraset, Chartpak), Sharpies, pencil, charcoal, watercolors, depending on whatever the subject calls for. I only have used the RendR with markers and pencil so far, but for now I think it is absolutely wonderful.

When I touched the paper it felt smoother than I'd hoped, and it has a funky smell, so I wasn't that thrilled at first. However, as soon as I put a marker to the page I fell in love. The paper behaves like you would expect when using markers on regular bond paper, except the other side of the page remains pristine. Unbelievable. I'm not sure what will happen if I try watercolors on it, but I'm extremely happy I found this sketchbook, will use it almost exclusively from now on.

I like to marker render with AD markers, and anyone who uses those know that they can easily bleed through 6 pages of paper. I legitimately TRIED to bleed through this paper (holding the marker in one spot on the paper for ~20 seconds)and all that happened was you can faintly see a hint of marker on the reverse side of the page. In everyday use, I marker render on both sides of every page, and love it.

only con I can think of is the paper is clearly treated, which results in a bit of an odd smell to the paper. But that doesn't matter once you're using AD markers...

I bought the roll of paper, and used it to make a smaller sketchbook. Its great, except that the paper is extremely curly, and is very difficult to flatten. But thats my only complaint, otherwise i would highly recommend it!

Was disappointed the journal did not open flat and would suggest the manufacturers investigate different binding to enable it to open flat. I agree the quality of the paper is very good in terms of the different media that can be used on it. Would consider using more if binding was changed.

This is the BEST sketchbook I have used so far. As advertised, it does not bleed, the quality of the paper is fantastic, I have no problems with it at all. I am definitely going to stick with this for a very long time. I wish Crescent could create a pocket "travelling" version of this sketchbook.

These hold up as advertised without fail to my Copic habit. I love Rhodia's sketch books but they bleed. I will be owning more of these.
