Welcome to dickblick
Crayola Model Magic is fun and safe for all ages. It's extremely lightweight and soft, and it air dries in 24 hours without needing firing or baking. Once dry, Model Magic can be carved or sanded. Paint it with tempera, watercolor, acrylic, enamel, or markers.
Model Magic is non-greasy. It doesn't stick to or stain skin or most types of clothing, and it doesn't flake or crumble, making clean-up easy. Just 4 oz (113 g) of Crayola Model Magic is equivalent to 1 lb (454 g) of traditional air dry clay, making it a terrific value!

Excellent for Large Groups!

Comments about Crayola Model Magic:
Multiple classes need clay and the individual packets make this so easy to use. Markers or paint work well on the dries masterpieces.

Best product per teachers...

I ordered this product as part of a school supply campaign for local teachers. They were told they could order anything they needed for art instruction. By default, this must be a great product since any brand could have been selected.
Model Magic Fun

Bought this in a large quantity, shipped quickly and arrived in good condition even with the heat of summer. The kids have loved playing with it and it dries in good time.
Kids love Model Magic!
from York, PA
We use Model Magic at the elementary schools where we do not have kilns. The kids love coloring it with markers. I ordered some as an end of the year treat for my 6th graders. I do have a kiln there, but we do not have the space or facilities for all twelve classes to use clay. It is great for those with sensory issues who do not like the feel of clay and it is a great product to learn 3-D modeling without a kiln.

I ordered Crayola Dough (colored clay for little grandchildren) and it was overwhelmingly well received by both the kids and their respective sets of parents.A small glitch in delivery was handled smoothly and professionally by the Dick Blick Team, so all kids were happy simultaneously! Thanks. (Shipping glitches are very hard to explain to a three year old).Dick Blick is now confirmed as my "Go-To" source for all Grand Child gifts!

We love Model Magic. I only buy the white. It is pricy but it does not crack or stick to your hands or the carpet. You can add color with markers while it is wet or dry (wet is better if you kneed it in) or you can paint it. The students always love it.

Update Review: "IT"S NOT CLAY"
from Morgan Hill
*Please read my previous review "IT"S NOT CLAY".I had to write an update review because I received such wonderful customer service. I didn't even try to return the Model magic after it didn't work out with the project we did, but I got reimbursed anyway! I just checked my email one day (about a week after I wrote my review) and Blick had sent me a message saying that they were reimbursing me for my Model Magic purchase. WOW! Now that is customer service! It doesn't get any better than that. We'll definitely be Blick customers from now on. Thanks Blick! We appreciate your courtesy, and we'll be ordering from you in the future. ***As I said before the Model Magic is a good product, just not for projects you would use traditional clay for, but I had to give a 5 star review for exceptional customer service.

I used the model magic to have my students make 3D models. I was a great medium for expressing themselves creatively.

IT"S NOT CLAY
I thought that this product was clay, but it isn't. I may have read the description too quickly (as I had read about 20 other clay product descriptions that day), but I didn't realize that it was a foam type product. My children are studying ancient history, and wanted to create tablets with cuneiform writing on them. With this foam type clay it didn't work very well, as the wedged writing was impossible to carve into the tablet (wet or dry) because it's so foamy and soft. So, the kids just made markings that looked like cuneiform the best way they could. It turned out okay, and I guess the only good thing is, now that they are dry, they won't break easily. I gave the product a 3 because it is a good product, just not for projects that you'd usually use traditional clay to make. I think the product description should include that it is not used as traditional clay. Also, even though it is dry, it does not carve very easily as the description also says. My last point is that it was a little pricey for clay (in my opinion), but I thought it was just really good quality. In conclusion, it definitely was not what I though it was, and we were not able to do the project as it should have been done, but it was okay. I'd say this stuff would be very useful and fun with preschoolers.
