Artista II Liquid Washable Tempera is an economically priced tempera paint from the makers of Crayola. It comes in a wide variety of brilliant, opaque colors that deliver maximum coverage with minimum application.
Artista II is "thixotropic," meaning that it is heavy-bodied and drip-free when left at rest. Shake, mix, or stir it, and it becomes thinner and more brushable, but it will always thicken again as it rests. This paint is excellent for traditional uses as well as for screen printing. It is freeze-thaw stable.
Artista II Washable Tempera adheres well to many surfaces, including newspaper, cardboard, and papier maché. It can also be used for screen printing.

Color Chart Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.
Storage tip — All tempera paints contain organic compounds that make them safe to use, even if ingested, but this also means they eventually will spoil. To prevent spoilage, Blick recommends that you close the lid tightly after use and avoid returning unused liquid tempera to its original container after exposure to air. Always store tempera paints in their original containers, in a cool, dry place.

Comments about Crayola Artista II Liquid Washable Tempera:
I ordered a complete set of Crayola tempera paints and an X-acto pencil sharpener for my Kindergarten class. The materials were sent in an environmentally safe package, which goes along with our unit, and packaged together. After opening the products, the pencil sharpener has been used approximately 600 times since its arrival. I was hesitant at first for my students to use the sharpener, but it is durable, completely safe, and I highly recommend it to teachers. The paint has the most brilliant colors I have seen in a long time! I have enjoyed using them with my students, and most certainly will come back and order additional materials from blick! Materials are student friendly and teacher approved!

Great paint, great value
By Addicted to Art
I'm an art teacher and this is my preferred paint of choice for younger kids. It covers smoothly and the colors are wonderful. It costs a little more than some of the brands you can buy off the shelf at discount stores, but the quality is worth it.

I purchased several brands of tempera paint for my classes: Crayola Premier, Crayola Artista II, Prang, and Sax Versa. The Prang used to be my favorite, but lately, it has changed formula, and I won't ever use it again. It has a weird consistency and nowhere near the pigmentation that the Crayola brands have. The Sax Versa was very good for a budget brand paint, but the white isn't as pigmented as the Crayola. What really surprised me was the Crayola Artista II brand. It is wonderfully pigmented and has a lovely, thick and buttery consistency! I thought it would be like their regular "washable tempera" brand, but it's much, much better! The top-of-the-line Crayola Premier is excellent, if not outstanding in pigment load, but it can also be a little pricey. I was very satisfied the Crayola Artista II and how it performed. It is very affordable, too (almost half the cost of the Premier brand). I know I was surprised that for the big price difference, it was still an excellent quality paint. So if you're on a budget for your classroom supplies, the Artista II paint is worth a few pennies more for the upgrade in quality. I save the Premier brand for my high schoolers and use the Artista II brand for my middle school kids. Only I know the difference. ;)
