Welcome to dickblick
Leave the loud winches, complicated cranks, and awkward adjustment knobs behind with this beautiful, easy-to-use counterweight easel. Counterbalanced by standard weight plates (not included), the Sienna Counterweight Easel lets you adjust the working height of your canvas with a simple touch of the handle.
Change from a standing to sitting painting position in seconds, and adjust the angle of the easel by using the two knobs on either side of the easel — no more awkward fumbling with knobs on the back side of your easel.
Three canvas holders accommodate a wide range of canvas sizes, from small 8" × 10" (20 cm × 25 cm) painting panels to giant 60" (152 cm) tall canvases and every size in between. Substantial rubber bumpers elevate and grip the canvas during painting sessions. The center mast extends to hold canvases more than 48" (122 cm) tall.
With a compact 30" × 30" (76 cm × 76 cm) footprint, and standing only 67" (170 cm) tall, this is the ideal easel for small or large studios. Four casters make it easy to relocate as needed.
Four, 5 lb (2.3 kg) weights, available from most sporting goods stores, are required to operate the Sienna Counterweight Easel.

Comments about Craftech Sienna Counterweight Easel:
It's expensive for sure, but I was looking for a long-term investment that makes painting easier, I bought it for the counter-weight function, of course. It is also much more attractive than a regular easel, if that matters to you. Since sitting is the new smoking, apparently, I wanted an easel that would allow me to stand or sit with an easy adjustment. I have a Best easel too, but it doesn't have a crank. I was taking big painting off and man-handling the easel to adjust it and that was super annoying. I damaged a big piece in the process once also. I do think the Best easel seems sturdier, knobs are bigger, wood is thicker, so if you make giant heavy canvases, I would stick to Best and get an easel with a crank.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Sienna Counterweight Easel - Best Easel Ever
from Silver City, NM
Very high quailty construction; easy to assemble; easy to adjust.
Go big or go home!
When working on a big canvas, I needed an easel that would allow me to raise it so I could work on the bottom third. After reviewing all of my options that gave me that ability, the Craftech Sienna Counterweight easel seemed to fit my need. It wasn't a cheap easel, but worth every penny. I was surprised when it was delivered about a week earlier that I had expected. It came packed well with easy to read instructions taking about an hour to assemble. I purchased the weights for under fifteen dollars at a local sporting good store. After several weeks of painting on it, there's no regret of my purchase. I highly recommend the Sienna Counterweight easel for artist who want to go big.

The best easel for the money no question
By Happy studio painter
from San Diego, CA
I love the counterweight aspect. I can raise and lower my painting in a second and it is really smooth. It is a solid easel and doesn't take up that much space. I had some extra weights lying around and they worked perfectly. I really can't tell you how nice it is to not mess with a winch to raise and lower the canvas holder. Great job.
