The book is touted as being for new drawing students.

No instruction, no tips, to how-tos. Just a list of tasks to do, and by this means you will be a fantastic artist! Imagine you knew nothing about carpentry but wanted to be able to frame houses. So you buy a book titled "Complete Carpemtry Course."

In it you find nothing but tasks. 1. Build a picture frame. 2. Build a birdhouse. 3. Build a dog house. 4. Build a stand for a potted plant. 5. Build a picnic table and benches. OK, you're ready! Go build that house and enjoy it!

No, I'm not overstating the simplicity of this "course." This is exactly the way it works, except you have more than 100 tasks. Chapter 1 begins with "objects" (there are several sections, each dealing with places, faces, flowers, etc.) You get 1 paragraph explaining that drawing is the attempt to convert 3D into 2D. Then you're given these tasks:

1. Draw two objects of completely different forms, side by side on a table. 2. Draw an object with a single light source, then move the light to a new position and redraw. 3. Draw two objects of different colors. 4. Draw any two objects of differing texture.

That's it. And on the book goes, just like this. It's as though the author(s) have told me to draw a certain thing and, Presto! Like magic, I know how to do it! Now that I'm an expert in that task, let's move on to being an expert in the next tasks!

Total waste of money and time. Complete and utter.
