Clear styrene sheets have become a popular alternative for use in framing artwork. Less expensive than acrylic and less fragile than glass, these pre-cut, 0.050" thick polystyrene sheets absorb 98% of damaging ultraviolet (UV) light while reducing glare and reflections from various light sources.
Available in a wide range of popular sizes, these clear styrene sheets can also be used as a safe and inexpensive way to teach the principles of etching in the classroom. Not intended for use with chemicals, they can be scratched into with engraving or dry point tools when a sketch is placed under them.
Handling Charge — When ordering sheets of paper or board larger than 18” x 24” in quantities of less than 10, a $3.00 per order handling fee applies. Paper or boards may be assorted to reach the quantity of 10.

NOT Clear and Does NOT Absorb UV Light- We Tested It!
Comments about Clear Styrene Sheets:
"According to the description, this is CLEAR styrene for framing. In fact, it is non-glare, which is not the same as CLEAR. Non-glare has a hazy appearance to prevent glare, but at the same time it mutes detail in the art being framed. The description is deceptive. However, if what you actually want is non-glare, then this is for you. Dick Blick needs to clarify the product description."I copied and pasted this review from "The Erstwhile Photographer" because he is 100% correct. I can't even use it for my art because of the hazy appearance. Plus we tested the "absorbs 98% of damaging ultraviolet (UV) light" feature using a UV light and a florescent lume/day glow watch. The light went straight through this styrene sheet and illuminated the day glow watch hands. If these actually did absorb 98% of UV light then the watch hands wouldn't have glowed or barely glowed at all. Instead they glowed really, really brightly.Note the picture- on the left side is the styrene which claims to block 98% UV and on the right side is a piece of UV protected glass which claims to block only 50% of the UV (which looks pretty accurate). But the styrene looks as though it blocks 0% UV and you can also see the hazy appearance of the styrene in this photo as well.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Would have been perfect
from Tampa Bay, Florida
Ordered a sheet to fit in an 18 x 22 frame. It wasn't cut to size. Too big and not evenly cut at that. I tried trimming it down so I could use it, but just couldn't manage. I shouldn't have had to trim it at all. Total waste of my time and money.
Merchant response: We're sorry that this styrene wasn't cut correctly, and we're happy to take care of this for you. Please look for an email from one of our Customer Care Representatives who will be in touch to further assist you.
Perfect thickness for framing watercolors
Bought several in various sizes to frame watercolors for an exhibit. They are so much lighter in weight to glass I prefer the styrene. Came with a peel-off sheet on front and back so they are scratch proof when they arrive. Will buy again.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Beware if you mat your artwork
I bought these because of the UV protection. It was not clear from the description that they are "non-glare" which can not be used to frame matted art. It results in the artwork becoming blurry. Please think about carrying more non-glass glazing options that can be used with mats.

Adequate quality, good price, exactly as expected
I bought these to use like I would normally use expensive Plexiglas. I used them in a 20 x 24 picture frame. They look nice, and best of all it makes my framed painting very lightweight. I did try to use a piece of mat board for my backing, but it wasn't rigid enough to keep this from buckling slightly. So I used foamboard instead and that worked well.
