Clear styrene sheets have become a popular alternative for use in framing artwork. Less expensive than acrylic and less fragile than glass, these pre-cut, 0.050" thick polystyrene sheets absorb 98% of damaging ultraviolet (UV) light while reducing glare and reflections from various light sources.
Available in a wide range of popular sizes, these clear styrene sheets can also be used as a safe and inexpensive way to teach the principles of etching in the classroom. Not intended for use with chemicals, they can be scratched into with engraving or dry point tools when a sketch is placed under them.
Handling Charge — When ordering sheets of paper or board larger than 18” x 24” in quantities of less than 10, a $3.00 per order handling fee applies. Paper or boards may be assorted to reach the quantity of 10.

Perfect thickness for framing watercolors
Comments about Clear Styrene Sheets:
Bought several in various sizes to frame watercolors for an exhibit. They are so much lighter in weight to glass I prefer the styrene. Came with a peel-off sheet on front and back so they are scratch proof when they arrive. Will buy again.

Not as described

According to the description, the is CLEAR styrene for framing. In fact, it is non-glare, which is not the same as CLEAR. Non-glare has a hazy appearance to prevent glare, but at the same time it mutes detail in the art being framed. The description is deceptive. However, if what you actually want is non-glare, then this is for you. Dick Blick needs to claify the product description.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Beware if you mat your artwork
I bought these because of the UV protection. It was not clear from the description that they are "non-glare" which can not be used to frame matted art. It results in the artwork becoming blurry. Please think about carrying more non-glass glazing options that can be used with mats.

Better than glass any day
By Acid butterfly
I use these non glare sheets in lieu of glass! They tend to be much more durableMy clients like this better than glass bc it is also more lightweight!
Adequate quality, good price, exactly as expected
I bought these to use like I would normally use expensive Plexiglas. I used them in a 20 x 24 picture frame. They look nice, and best of all it makes my framed painting very lightweight. I did try to use a piece of mat board for my backing, but it wasn't rigid enough to keep this from buckling slightly. So I used foamboard instead and that worked well.

I use it in printmaking; lits of precut sizes here!
Excellent lucite plates for drypoint.
These sheets(plates) are excellent for drypoint and monotype. They come in a variety of sizes (pre-cut) and the plastic is protected by a film on each side so no scratches .
