Use with marker, pen, pencil, or X-Acto knife. A knurled center nut holds the setting and makes precision adjustment easy. Draw circles up to 12".

This works ok on paper but won't hold a fat marker.
The Choice of Geometry Teachers
When ordering supplies for my department, I was told this was THE only compass that would work in their classrooms. It is durable and reliable. And, the price from Dick Blick was great!

This might be a little off-beat in appearance for a compass, but it has become the favorite of our math teachers (middle and high school) and main lesson teachers both. Great for projective geometry drawings, it can handle very large-radius circles and a variety of drawing implements -- ink, lead pencil, colored pencils. You have to be a little careful of the point-y end, but it makes a great anchor when drawing. And the price is terrific, especially for large classes.

I will recommend this product to others

For rosemalers, who many time paint inside bowls, this compass easily helps with the drawing of a circle up the side of a bowl. This is an invaluable tool.
Very practical compass
from Sunnyvale, CA
This compass has a nice simple design that is also very versatile. It has the advantage over some fancier, more expensive compasses of being able to use a variety of pencils, pens or pen knives. It is very durable and I can give it to young kids to use without worrying about them breaking it. It doesn't have a precise adjustment but the screw clamp is easy to use and reliably keeps whatever position you set as long as you make it reasonably tight. The pencil and pivot points can be conveniently protected in storage by sliding them so they are in between the disks (this is also how it was shipped to me).

All our geometry students use this compass - we have used this product for years and have never found anything better.

These compasses seem to last the longest under regular use and will hold normal pens and pencils for drawing circles. They can be a little clumsy to use, but that is out weighed by their durability.
