Be sure to shake before use!
They warn of bubbles if shaken vigorously. I'd be more concerned about a thorough mix. Used the matte after some gentle mixing on a few goose eggs and it was glossy. Used again after knocking it over and giving it a decent mix and it was extremely matte, absolutely no shine at all.Picked up some satin and am completely satisfied.

I use the matte finish on my painted concrete garden statues. It has a nice consistency, goes on smoothly and dries clear. Just the right amount of sheen for my projects. I'm really glad I found this product.

I Love this Stuff!
from Phoenix, AZ
I use this product to topcoat and preserve all my original acrylic artwork and collages. It flows nicely, dries quickly and most bubbles that occur during application have the opportunity to dissolve before the product dries. Recommended coats is 3-5. I can usually apply 3 coats to create an even finish. For an even, cost effective finish, I would recommend this to anyone.
Best of the water based varnishes
By Cali Artist

I purchase the matte varnish. I agree that it is too shiny for being called matte, but I do love that it doesn't show brush marks, and that it does not yellow over time.
Not very matte!

I purchased this because it was supposed to be matte but it dries almost as shiny as gloss varnish. It is very fluid, self leveling so no brush strokes. Slow drying.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The best of the 'new formula' varnishes
from Daytona Beach
I miss the fabulous varnishes of recent years past. The EPA has forced changes in all of the different brand's formulas but Jo Sonya's is the best of the new breed in my opinion.
