These fine products from Chroma allow you to gain control over the painting process. They make working with acrylics easier and allow you more flexibility without requiring you to learn new techniques. Acrylic Glazing Liquid — Specially formulated for creating translucent glazes, this Binder Medium* — This water-based acrylic emulsion is used for preparing and sealing acrylic painting surfaces. It promotes good adhesion of paint and prevents moisture loss into the substrate. It is also used for isolation and barrier coats between layers. Clear Painting Medium — Chroma Atelier Clear Painting Medium is a Fast Medium/Fixer* — This product speeds the painting process when the artist does not need extra time —it’s great for layering. Also use it to reinforce a tender layer in preparation for scratch-back or scraping techniques. Gloss, Satin, and Matte Mediums — Offered in your choice of three finishes, these Heavy Gel — This thick, Impasto Gel — This thick, milky paste dries clear and blends with colors to increase impasto effect and textural sharpness. It can also be used as a very strong adhesive for bonding heavy objects or as a binder for sand or other textural additives. Gloss, Satin, and Matte Varnishes — These non-toxic, waterbased varnishes provide a protective, non-tacky coating for acrylic paintings. They are also excellent for altering sheen levels when mixed with acrylic paints. Formerly known as Chroma Atelier Medium & Varnish, they are available in your choice of Gloss, Matte, and Satin finishes. Modeling Compound* — This very thick, textural paste can be used to create exaggerated structure within artwork. It offers the same flexibility as Atelier paints, and can be used at any stage in the painting process. Modeling Compound dries white. Mix it with paint for a colored ground, or paint over it after it dries. Regular Gel — Available in both Gloss and Matte finishes, this smooth, buttery acrylic gel can be used to extend acrylic paints and adjust their gloss and transparency without altering their consistency. An ideal glazing medium, it also holds textures and moderate peaks for impasto effects. Mix it directly with acrylic paints or apply it on top of a paint layer (its milky color becomes transparent when dry). Retarder Medium — Use this retarder in very dry conditions. Mix 1 part retarder to 10 parts water. Slow Medium* — Use Slow Medium to extend the wet blending time, producing a smooth, mid-viscosity paint in small amounts. It is useful for glazing and other techniques requiring longer working time and thinner paint application. It also allows re-blending of paint that feels dry to the touch. Thick Slow Medium* — This product extends the wet blending time and slows the drying process of Atelier Interactive Artists’ Acrylics. Its creamy, Unlocking Formula* — Use Unlocking Formula as a paint layer to permit blending paint back in or wiping away sections of applied paint. It can also extend wet blending time. It’s easy to apply using the Water Sprayer. Water Sprayer — Produces a fine, controlled mist that keeps Atelier Interactive Acrylics workable for as long as you wish using wet-in-wet and wet-over-damp techniques. Use with distilled water or Atelier Unlocking Formula. Caution — Follow safety instructions carefully. Not suitable for use by children.
