Welcome to dickblick
This is a very fluid, general-purpose alkyd resin medium that can be used to increase the flow and transparency of Chroma Archival Oils, as well as for glazing and other thin applications. Its fast-drying properties allow a variety of techniques beyond what is normally possible with traditional mediums.
Odorless Lean Medium generates very little vapor, resulting in healthier and more pleasant painting sessions.

Comments about Chroma Archival Oils Lean Medium:
I use this medium to wash in an under color over the primed canvass. The consistency is perfect for this. It dries quickly & you can start painting.

THIS is the HOLY GRAIL of fast-drying mediums!
from Media, PA
Having tried Liquin, Galkyd, and Galkyd Light, I found the thick consistency and tackiness difficult to work with. I saw Australian painter Colley Whisson use this medium with his technique of thin layers of oils. I have used it with traditional oils and with Cobra water-mixable oils and it is excellent. It is very thin although it looks dark in color, it does not affect the color of paint. It has a reasonable set-up time--maybe 1 to 1-1/2 hours before it tacks up--longer it seems than the above mentioned products. I am about to order MORE in larger bottles!
best quick-dry medium out there
By West coast painter
I've used a lot of mediums over the years & was never satisfied with any of them. This is very similar to Liquin but is much more fluid like OMS. The alkyd smell is not overpowering & it keeps colors from dulling. I started using it after a Colley Whisson workshop & I reccommend it to anyone who pleinair paints with oils.

I will definitely use this with all of my paintings.
from Tolono, IL
It is a very thin liquid, but I dipped it out with a spoon and put it on my paint. It instantly made the paint easier to use, and did dry much quicker. I was truly amazed!
The perfect oil painting medium!

Great as an Plein Air oil medium has no odor and dries quickly for those who need to lay in darks first and then paint lights over the top. Dries with a nice gloss and improves drying time. If you need to extend your drying time or the weather is hot mix in some of the fat medium they also make.
Love this Product~

This is a great medium that is odorless and quick drying. However, it must be handled with care, particularly if it spills. Ventilation and clean up is mandatory.
This is a safe product!

I have tried many different oil painting mediums. There are others that I have liked but I found them to be unsafe to use. This medium does exactly what I need, in blending my oil paints and giving them a nice finish and it is not harmful to use.

practical uses of Archival Lean medium
By Brigitte Curt
from Palo Alto, CA
We have succesfully use the Archival lean medium to travel and paint outdoors, plein air paintings that need to dry fast before returning to the US.I recommend it to all participants in our Provence workshops. It also dries with a beautiful gloss that is not overdone, a real life saver when you produce too much work to put it all in a wet panel carrier. Also I use it in the studio, somtimes mixed with varnish to render it more liquid when I paint on top of old paintings. It completely eliminates the mat, dull surface that results in layering wet paint on top of dry paint. No odor, easy to manipulate. Do not overdue, economical.Does not dry by itsel, has to be mixed with paint, so it is not proper as a sealing layer without paint.
