I have been using this product for about 15 years and currently paint with it daily. The impasto paintings have held up MUCH better than those with just oil paint. They have retained their gloss and are not brittle as just oil paint is when painted in impasto. I mix this medium with all brands of paint not just Archival. I also really like both the Classic and Fat medium but the smooth gel is a staple for me and exceeds every comparable product. I continue to try/test every impasto medium that comes out on the market that I can find and never come close. One of the things that I like about this over some of the others is that others dry matte whereas this looks more like fresh oil paint. I leave this review because I don't want them to ever stop making this product.

I have been using the archival paints for about 6 months without the drying medium so they were slow to dry. I was very happy with the washing up!! Unfortunately I made a final glaze using archival oil and pigment and it beaded on the surface. I didn't think it detracted from the painting which was about reflection anyway so left it. 6 months later the surface is still tacky. I missed the competition date and doubt whether I'll make next years the rate it is going. I have since discovered the drying medium and started using it today.
PS I find it ironic I can buy these paints from Dick Blick and they are about half the price (including postage)than here in Australia where they are made.

I haven't used these paints before and I was pleasantly surprised! Very nice paints, good weight, and it is true that they do dry faster, which can be very helpful! Just make sure that you don't treat it like other oils on your palette--don't squeeze out more than you need for that one painting session, because I forgot that these were fast drying, and they dried out on my palette (unlike most oils) by the next day, so I wasted a bit of paint. But as long as you don't put more than you need on your palette, you won't waste anything! Overall, very nice paints, good texture, just the right weight to it.

I have been working exclusively with Chroma Oils for about six months and have found them to be very good for my style of painting which involves a lot of layering. Fast dry times means that I can get several layers completed in a day, as opposed to waiting…waiting…waiting…

I have a small studio so I don't have a lot of room to work on multiple canvases at the same time and the quick dry times (I use the Chroma mediums to enhance drying times) has helped me to manage my process better.

As of yet, I have not varnished any of my paintings. I am not sure if the Chroma Oils will accept the W&N varnishes I have or if I need to look into something else.

I will post again when I have varnished a few and let them fully cure. I have high hopes.

Until recently, I have always mixed my own mediums, however in searching for something to increase drying time (yes, even in Arizona), I decided to try the Chroma Smooth Gel Medium. Words can not begin to express the joy and enthusiasm that using the Chroma Smooth Gel has brought to my painting!

In one month's time, I have used almost a complete tube and have decided to order Chroma's complete line of mediums! I have not tried their paints as I am quite satisfied with the high pigment load and buttery consistency of the paint I currently use...although, I may try them in the future.

Within the first few days of using the Smooth Gel Medium, I had recommended and ordered some for a friend. And since that time, have recommended it to several other professional painters.

Chroma's Archival Oils are a very satisfactory paint. I have used them for several years and am very pleased with their performance. They have a creamy consistency, full body, and excellent tinting strength. They stay workable on the palette for several days, yet dry overnight with the addition of the low odor lean medium. Paintings completed 10 years ago, show no signs of cracking. Some hues may vary from the same name in other brands.

I have been painting with Archival oils for several years now and highly recommend them. I especially like using their Classic Medium because the oils usually dry overnight and have a satin sheen versus the high gloss of their quick drying medium. The turp substitute and mediums don't bother my allergies. Since they have reformulated their colors...several of them are a little off. Sap Green turned out to be more of a Kelly Green - the color of shamrocks. I use the Archival oils almost exclusively.

This review is for CROMA ARCHIVAL OILS ULTRAMARINE BLUE only, as it is the only one I have purchased. While this product is inexpensive, the quality is poor, making it a waste of money. This product has virtually no tinting power, is pasty and difficult to use. I would recommend highly against its purchase. It is a much better value to get the highest quality artists oil paint, as they contain more pigment and will go much farther. I bought a large tube of this paint, and used the whole thing and feel like I got little to no mileage out of it. Really, ultramarine is a key color, and I feel that my time was wasted more than anything. I cannot speak for the other colors, but because of this, would not buy them.
