Comments about Charbonnel Etching Inks:
This is a great intaglio ink. It does not require additional easy wipe or burnt plate oil to soften. The color on the paper is a soft black

this particular can of ink was unusable
from Albuquerque, NM
I ordered Carbonell's Raw Umber etching ink, but what was inside the can (labeled "Raw Umber") was definitely NOT Raw Umber - the color was between Burnt Umber and Yellow Ochre, not even remotely resembling the Raw Umber. The ink itself was over - saturated with oil, it was literally too liquid to be use in an etching. I have to say that I ordered Carbonell inks before and was always satisfied with them, this may have been a simple mistake on their part (mis-lableing the color, etc).
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: We apologize for the defective can of ink, and we're happy to replace that for you. Please look for an email from a member of our Customer Care Team who will be following up to assist you.
Wide palette selection
from Central Florida
These inks are highly pigmented, with a selection closer to most lines of paint. The go to ink for printmakers working in color techniques. Especially useful for viscosity etching.

I particularly like the heavy pigmentation in the blacks - and the large variety of colors to choose from.
The best etching ink, bar none!
from Worcester, VT
Charbonnel etching ink has the ability to hang on and in the etched or engraved line, has great nuance of tonalities. Easy to wipe.

Excellent, will always use this ink!
The density of the pigments is unsurpassed...the ink in the tubes are a bit creamier...a modest amount goes very far!
Rich and dense
My first time etching and loved the rich deep black hue...the ink spread thickly but a small amount went a long way...if applied on a heating table the spreading is smoother...I have been advised by many friends who are professional printmakers that this is the best ink on the market...I am taking their word for it!
Excellent etching ink.
