Great mix but not enough yellow
from Washington DC
The tiles are good quality and there were 12 colors in total; however there were only 5 yellow tiles compared to about 100 of each of the others. I'd definitely buy again in any event.

I bought 2 X 5 lb bags of assorted tiles. The web site only showed 6 colores but there were actually 13? different colors. As it turns out, the additional colors were great for the mosaic I am putting together, but I didn't have enough of some of the colors I initially thought I was ordering. I ordered more assorted colors but with only 4 colors per bag and had enough of the colors I needed. The additional tiles will be useful for future products. The orders I placed were handled in a timely manner. All is good!

Better mix than the web site showed.
from St Paul MN
Website shows 6 colors that were available in the mix. The mix had 7 more colors: light green, light caramel, dark caramel, mauve/maroon, black, dark grey, light grey. So, the actual mix has a very pleasant and useful spectrum. Assuming it is a random mix, all colors were well represented except there were only 14 light grey (to be fair, it was not one of the colors implied to be in the mix as shown on the web site). To buy sub-pound amounts of each the dozen-plus colors individually would have been far more expensive.

Nice Variety, well made
By Art Instructor

I purchased these to use in my art class. The 5 lb. bags quite contain at least 2300 tiles minimum. Each tile is a 1 cm or approximately 3/8" square. There were 14 different colors (white, black, light gray, dark gray, light tan, dark tan, light green, apple green, pastel yellow, pastel baby blue, dark cobalt blue, pastel pink, red, and plum - see photo.) There were enough tiles to make at least 15 square tiles (12 cm X 12 cm; or 4.75" x 4.75" with no space between tiles), or two 12" x 16" rectangles with some pieces to spare (see photos). The tiles have smooth edges, and are very well made. After 11,000+ tiles, I have found that each bag has approximately 3-5 pieces that were either broken, defective or had chipped edges. That's pretty phenomenal! Because of the small size of the tiles (1mm) it may be challenging for younger children to pick up. Most will not have the patience to lay down 144 tiles to make a 5" x 5" square. I would use these for mature middle schoolers and junior high on up.After sorting out five 5 lb. bags of tiles, I discovered is that there were uneven amounts of each color from bag to bag. I sorted each bag into 1/3 cup plastic paint cups. Most colors filled the cup completely, and several colors filled 1 and 1/2 of these, but other colors only filled the plastic cups 1/2-3/4th's full. There were plenteous amounts of pink, plum, light gray and tans, but fluctuating amounts of light blue, light green and cobalt blue. Dark gray and white consistently had the least amount. The other colors (red, yellow, black )were fairly consistent in amounts (1 paint cup full). The cobalt blue and apple green varied - some bags had more than usual, some had way less. There are plenty of other lovely colors for the kids to choose from, so they may not even notice. I cannot say whether the lack of dark gray, white and apple green is like this for every 5 lb. bag. This could change as new bags are manufactured. Just be aware that you will have to sort them and see for yourself what colors you may lack so you can plan accordingly.

These tiles have worked very well for my crafts class -- the tiles arrived in good shape, no breakage, and well-assorted. Have enjoyed using them, and will definitely re-order for next year!
