Pour Clear Polyester Casting Resin into any mold to make a paperweight, or sculpture. Casting resin is a crystal clear, low viscosity liquid that requires mixing with a catalyst to become rock hard (purchase catalyst separately). It cures to a smooth glossy transparency at room temperature. Use of a mold release is not necessary for flexible plastic or rubber molds.

Note — Casting resin has only a 6-month shelf life. Store in a cool place.

Polyester Catalyst — Clear, colorless liquid, very low viscosity. Usually added in quantities of 0.5% to 3.0% of weight of resin for curing. Store in a cool place, keep tightly closed. Purchase ½ oz for a pint or quart of resin, and 1 oz for a gallon of resin.

Caution — Follow safety instructions carefully. Not suitable for use by children. Shipping restrictions apply to hazardous materials.

I used it in a glass head/vessel. The heat caused to material to crack. The cracking ruined the glass vessel (a head).

The result was a $250.00 mistake.

The instructions should be more explicit about the volume on Castin Craft and the containers to use.

I have used many resins and I have a good amount of experience with epoxy. Maybe its not fair to compare because the other stuff was high quality (from a company's budget), but I am a bit poor so I went cheap. I shouldn't have. Reading the label, it seems the company was guessing on it hardener to resin ratio...so I had to guess. Long story short, spend a bit more coin and it won't be wasted on this sorry excuse.

I have done a lot of casting, but I will never purchase this poly-resin again. I even took back the unused portion because it made me waste a valuable object!

Sticky Situation

The drops of catalyst method is such an exact science I have yet to get it right. Seems like I never put enough drops.
Every time I use this resin I end up with a sticky, soft pull.
Not only is the pull sticky but it has ruined some of my molds. The plastic has yet to becomes a solid piece.

When I use one to one ration resins I get much better results.

In the end I would recommend this to a friend on a tight budge,BUT with a strong word of warning. I would just hope they would get better results than I have.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I use this product to embed insects as a mount. It works very well as long as you follow the instructions and do more than one layer as described in the instructions. The only downside is that it does cook the insect, so if you don't do it in layers then the insect will burn. This still seems preferable to me though, because they lose color in a shadow box over time as well. The ability to turn it over and view the specimen makes it more desirable to me. Thanks!

I use this product to create artwork. The price is far better than what I pay at my local craft store. However, I wish there was a pour spout so wasted resin doesn't end up all over the top of the can.

I've never used resin before. But once I started making things with this resin I couldn't stop. I ran out and went to the store to buy more. Could find this, so I tried the other stuff. Not as nice to use.
