Pour Clear Polyester Casting Resin into any mold to make a paperweight, or sculpture. Casting resin is a crystal clear, low viscosity liquid that requires mixing with a catalyst to become rock hard (purchase catalyst separately). It cures to a smooth glossy transparency at room temperature. Use of a mold release is not necessary for flexible plastic or rubber molds.
Note — Casting resin has only a 6-month shelf life. Store in a cool place.
Clear, colorless liquid, very low viscosity. Usually added in quantities of 0.5% to 3.0% of weight of resin for curing. Store in a cool place, keep tightly closed. Purchase ½ oz for a pint or quart of resin, and 1 oz for a gallon of resin.

Castin' Craft Clear Polyester Casting Resin
Comments about Castin'Craft Clear Polyester Casting Resin:
It's always lovely to do business with Dick Blick, The service is wonderful, the variety of products is great and always arrive quickly, and I can usually find what I want here when I can find it no where else. The product most recently purchased was the catalyst for a clear cast resin. As a polymer clay artist I have occasion to add other mixed media items to finish a piece. The project I used this product in was a 10 inch mermaid, hot tubbing in an over sized coffee cup. She was complete and needed "water." I could find the resin, but not the catalyst. Fortunately, Dick Blick carries it, so I could complete the project with minimal delay. The catalyst is exactly as advertised and worked perfectly with the resin I purchased locally. Can't ask for anything more than that.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

A product with a thousand uses.

Over 40 years ago, I first used a polymer resin over a Plasticine clay sculpture, and it is rigid and shining to this day. You can mix this product with liquid acrylics to paint atmospheres in painting. For instance, fine silver mixed with this product will create a foggy early morning background -- but you have to work fast, because the hardening process is hard to predict. This product is much better than ordinary fiberglass resin, because it is more refined and very clear.

Standard Quick-Drying Poly Resin
from Cleveland, OH
I use this resin on a daily basis to create assemblage pieces and jewelry and it's a decent, fast-setting poly resin. Sets very clear with no yellowing unlike some other resins I have used. The odor is a bit much for some people in confined spaces so I recommend using this in a well-ventilated studio space, basement, or garage. I also recommend getting some acetone to use for clean-up.

I used the materials to cast teeth into my denture and it works beautifully. It set quickly and hardened enough to sand it in 4 hours. It is kind of smelly while working it, but the best stuff always is a little smelly during the blending stage. You can't go wrong using Dick Blicks products. For Sure!

Although expensive, if you need a lot of resin, this brand is a good deal and high quality. Carefully follow instructions though because deviations will effect the setting capacity. Also, if you are adding color to the resin, be sure to add a little more catalyst because the color liquid tends to dilute the chemical reaction.

Love the packaging and the delivery. Right on time. This satisfied me more than the price of the items.

Castin Craft Clear Resin
from Deltay Beach, Florida
I used it in a glass head/vessel. The heat caused to material to crack. The cracking ruined the glass vessel (a head). The result was a $250.00 mistake. The instructions should be more explicit about the volume on Castin Craft and the containers to use.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
