AlkydPro Fast-Drying Alkyd Oil Colors are artist's colors for the 21st century.
Because AlkydPro Colors dry much quicker than traditional oil paints (within 20 hours), artists can complete paintings in a fraction of the time. The quick drying time also allows more creative freedom for artists who travel, paint plein air, or work in layers.
The binder used in AlkydPro Alkyd Oil Colors is a sunflower oil alkyd resin. Because they contain no linseed oil, AlkydPro Oil Colors won't yellow, crack, or dull over time. At the same time, every color offers a high pigment concentration and the buttery feel that is consistent with professional-quality paints. The high pigment concentration also means that colors are purer, and a larger tube size means paints stretch further, ensuring a better value for the artist.
AlkydPro Alkyd Oil Colors are compatible with traditional oils, mediums, mineral spirits, and turpentine, as well as with other alkyds. They also can be used to speed the drying time of oil paints. They contain no fillers, adulterants, or opacifiers.
AlkydPro Alkyd Oil Colors dry to a brilliant, flexible finish and retain their color intensity after drying.
Made in the USA.
Note — Use this color chart as an approximation of the real color. If exact color matching is necessary, use actual samples of the materials.

Comments about CAS AlkydPro Fast-Drying Alkyd Oil Colors:
Alkyds are excellent. The fast drying can seem too fast compared to traditional oils. I've learned to not mix really large amounts of paint since it does get stiff after a few hours. I personally like the sticky quality when it just starts to set. It's a very good value for a quality product.

Comments about CAS AlkydPro Fast-Drying Alkyd Oil Colors:
This is my second try to give a review for this paint...the website lost the first one. I hated this stuff so much I have to tell my story. I am an oil painter with forty years of experience. I have used Alkyds for a lot of those years. When the new line of CAS paints first came out, I thought I ought to try them. So when I needed to order more paint, ...I paint every day, so I use a lot, I went for it and bought a whole palette of colors worth of CAS. Bad idea. I am sooo disappointed. Let me count the ways. 1. Color fidelity. There are variances of color with all different paint manufacturers. The color differences with CAS are beyond variation. CAS Alizarin Crimson is a tint. Right out of the tube the color is a dark pink, not the almost black it should be, meaning I can't use this color. Then there is their version of sap green....so heavy on phtalo green that I am unable to use it. Several of the other colors are lighter than they should be. 2. Drying speed. These paints are made with straight alkyd, meaning they dry really fast...I spend a good day in the studio every day. These start drying up and gunking up within an hour of being put on my palette, meaning I have to start over laying out colors within a few hours...a waste of time for me. 3. Shiny weaselly dried paint surface. Again, since these paints use straight alkyd, they dry with the awful shiny gloss film of that medium, making it difficult to see the work underneath the shine. Hard to refine a painting when you can't really see it for the reflected glare. If you haven't guessed already, I am really not happy with these paints. I must say that Dick Blick has been helpful with me on that score. I wrote them a letter expressing my displeasure, and they sent me a return paid mailing form, but since I have already opened the paint and used it several times, I don't feel comfortable sending them back. I will keep them in my "Unusable Paint Don't Order Again" box..a rather expensive lesson not to buy a whole lot of paint from a manufacturer you aren't familiar with.. There are a lot of glowing reviews of this paint here. I have given the other side. If you want to try it, go ahead...but learn from me. Just one or two colors at first.

Comments about CAS AlkydPro Fast-Drying Alkyd Oil Colors:
I have not tried each and every company out there that make fast drying paints but I do know that when you compare these paints (Alkyd pro) with winsor and newton the alkyd pro paints are much much thicker and have much more pigment. Even with the increase in pigment concentration the paints are still very usable and brushing qualities are extremely nice. Rich and thick is how I would describe these paints. The smell isn't offensive at all...barely noticable for me. I would like them better if they had a cadmium yellow light, cadmium yellow lemon and a few others. I've already ordered 22 tubes in different colors. Most of the high oil pigments dry in a matter of 24 hours when used straight from the tube. Other quick drying pigments like the oxides dry in a matter of 4-5 hours. Great paints and I would highly recommend them to anyone who (like me) is a little more impatient about watching paint dry over the next few weeks.

Comments about CAS AlkydPro Fast-Drying Alkyd Oil Colors:
I love these paints! They are very fine pigments, the best quality I've seen out there. The price is exceptional--you get a tube that is much bigger than the other brands. I was thrilled to receive a bonus tube of paint due to my large order--it's one of my favorite colors.

Comments about CAS AlkydPro Fast-Drying Alkyd Oil Colors:
These paints are fantastic for on location painting. They are fast drying but unlike acrylics there is plenty of time for blending and changing. I have been painting in acrylics for years but I am hooked on these paints. The colors are fantastic - rich and there is a wide range to choose from. The layer great with the pallet knife.

Comments about CAS AlkydPro Fast-Drying Alkyd Oil Colors:
Color saturation compares with the best. I am only using CAS instead of oil. The fast drying is a big plus.I use glazes and it's important that the first layer is dry. There is no apparent difference with the final result compared to oil. There is a small negative and that is that the paint dries just under the cap so I must keep a small knife to dig this out. Merchant response: The makers of the CAS AlkydPro would like to offer the following clarifications:
1. Alizarin Crimson is not a tint - it is a unique blend made by the pigment manufacturer with the highest lightfastness on the market at this time. 2. Sap Green is one of our best-seller paints - it is not heavy in phthalo blue, it just has a very concentrated pigment load 3. AlkydPro is formulated to dry fast - that is the point with our paint 4. The gloss can be controlled by diluting the paint with odorless mineral spirits - from semi-gloss to a matte finish.
