Welcome to dickblick
Caran d'Ache has drawn on its expertise and explored the deepest graphite mines to search out the infinite color nuances of carbon. The result is the Graphite Line, an original concept dedicated to graphite that gives artists the opportunity to compose their own graphite range and explore all the shades of black.
Technalo water soluble graphite pencils contain an aquarelle lead, allowing uniform darkening of large surfaces, and regular and intense line drawing.

Comments about Caran d'Ache Technalo Water Soluble Graphite Pencils:
Recently I tested a variety of water soluble media to figure out which was the best. I was looking for something to replace inks as the basis of an illustration, and something that you could later paint over with watercolors. Honorable mention goes to Derwent Aquatone, Derwent Graphitone, and Derwent Inktense. Ultimately I decided that the Caran D'ache Supracolors were the cleanest for my purposes, with the added advantage of a multitutde of colors. But the Technalo pencil was very good, with a smooth gradation. Unfortunately it will smear slightly if you cover it again with watercolor. I used the 3B, I haven't tried the HB yet, and I'm hoping it will be neater and more permanent. Caran D'ache always has high quality stuff. If someone from Caran D'ache sees this post, please consider making the Technalo leads available for mechanical pencils. And we could also use some color sticks similar to the Art Stix by Prismacolor!

I have tried several types of water soluble graphite pencils and these are by far my favorite. Lovely to draw with and the lines blend nicely into a wash. I use them for sketching illustrations on hot press watercolor paper and Lenox 100 drawing paper.
