Great for Coloring in large scale

They are a natural upgrade for crayon users, for I have often shared them with young family members and students with very positive results. New users are usually amazed as to how much brighter and colorful Neocolor coloring can be compared to average kids crayons. They are pigment rich, buttery-smooth and soft on the paper, and readily lay down intense color on a variety of surfaces from paper to plywood as shown in the 2' X 4' boards below. Once we even used them to color and decorate some ceramic bowls. These wax pastels are pretty durable and reasonable strong. With the aid of my trusty Fixpencil crayon holder, I can easily apply more drawing/coloring pressure and make the most of smaller fragments that might break off. As you can see, they are well suited for working in a large scale. Neocolor I crayons have pretty good covering power and are fairly mess-free coloring medium. There was no need to protect the carpet from stray paint splashes. Recommended additions to any sketching kit.

Subtle glowing colors

I tried these recently as an addition to my growing collection of Neocolor crayons. I didn't think I really needed them, as I don't usually do much with metallic effects. However, these are really versatile, and have the same high quality as the other Neocolor crayons.

WHAT I LIKE: The metallic effect is subtle, and doesn't jump off the page at you. I like the way it adds a touch of glamour to a drawing without being overwhelming. Interesting and unusual colors.

HOW I USE THEM: So far, I have been using them to create linear drawings on 140 LB watercolor paper, then adding color washes with Necolor II watersoluble crayons, or with regular watercolors. The metallic underdrawing shows through the overpainting in a really interesting way. Also use them on colored paper, especially black, for maximum drama. Very cool effects, and yes, magical too!

WHAT I DISLIKE: Nothing. These are great.
