I bought this thinking it was the heavier, vellum type paper. Which is my fault, I know. I should have read it closer, but the labels look way too similar and I got confused. Guess I'll just stick to Strathmore, since this is not what I expected to get. I think I got confused because they don't make the vellum anymore, or else Blick didn't reorder these....

(Canson XL Recycled pad series consist of 3 different types of paper- sketch, drawing, and bristol. For this review, I am covering the drawing pad)

This pad has a nice smooth surface, but has a good enough tooth for graphite and coloured pencil.
I have no complaints.

I have found it to be the best so far for use as business card stock. It is 2 sided, textured and smooth, and both sides work well for me, depending on which type of business card I print. Bright white is color receptive for inkjet. Dick Blick shipped in perfect order and ASAP. Thanks

Sturdy, but not best for colored pencil

I tried this for colored pencil because of its weight (96 lb.). However, this paper has a thin, deep-lined grain that is difficult to fill in, and it doesn't hold many layers. (see screen shot for example)

It does work well if you use solvent with colored pencil because it doesn't buckle. It's also very economical.

I would recommend it for other types of pencil drawing, just not for colored pencil.
