Comments about Canson XL Recycled Bristol Pads:
This is the first time I have used Bristol paper. What I really like is having both vellum and smooth in the same pad of paper. This is a matter of which side of the paper is used. In my opinion, this gives bang for the buck. I use this paper in doing Zentangle inspired art.One minor draw back is that it doesn't seem to take shading well. This could just be me. I have tried Micron pens, drawing pens of different brands, different brands of colored pencils and Sharpies, and I have liked the feel of each on this paper. I have had some papers that will wick the ink of a Sharpie, so there is not a nice clean line, but that is not the case with this paper.I will be ordering more of this paper in the future. I don't know how this compares to other brands of Bristol, as I have not tried other brands out yet. I am slowly testing out different papers with the different mediums I am using.

Affordable good quality

The paper is very smooth and takes pencil and ink well. Has a few minor grey speck defects but they aren't particularly noticeable to the human eye, I only found them when I scaned some drawings for digital editing. I love using Bristol it is a great heavy paper. The only down side I had was I ordered online and when I got my stuff the cover on my 9x12 pad had been slashed, thankfully the paper was intact or I would have had a serious complaint.

I like how's it's bright, clean, smooth, and has ample tooth. It's great for what I use in my artwork and I have always chosen Canson as my medium for the last 4 years. I recommend to other artists that use cut aways and need a clean prime surface. It's great for most things except, heavy copic marker use and of course water-originated stuff, but otherwise it's my go to for pencils, pens, light marker, and cut-aways.
