This is a great quality paper!

I love to draw on the bristol Pad smooth surface. I also use this surface for "marker painting." This pad is affordable.
Good for cartooning
I'm a cartoonist who does several comics, so I have to use a lot of Bristol boards to get work done. I found that Canson XL works the best. You get the most out of the price, and it holds up ink really well. I switched to Canson in 2015 and haven't looked back since.Very much recommended, especially to cartoonists.

I never used before, but I will buy again. I love Canson papers.
Surface texture (vellum) as opposed to plate finish
I work with graphite. This paper can take some punishment, and it offers a good dependable surface for various mediums. The surface texture slight as it is can still make ones work more difficult if you are looking for a plate finish, don't go there. I create my own textures ,i don't need the paper to do that for me.

Canson XL Bristol Pads
By L. A.
Canson XL Bristol PadsThis is my first time to try Canson XL Bristol, as I usually work with either Strathmore 300 series Smooth Bristol or Canson foundation series which are almost indistinguishable from one another. The Canson XL has more of a Student paper quality. The plate surface is smooth to the touch but visually it does not have the appearance as the slightly higher grades of Bristol do. The Canson XL resembles more closely a very heavy cellulose card stock. It carries ink well though and for an economical support for scanning or experimental drafts it quite good.
